Missing Consciousness (Instrumental Mix)

A short while I participated in a production competition, remixing this tune "Imagine The Future", who's original creator still remains a mystery. 

Somehow my entry was chosen as the "winner" despite there being quite a few tunes that I thought were better than mine!

I received a vinyl / dubplate copy of the track and a little bit of an ego boost. It's great to see my name amongst some top old school and new school producers.

Born and raised in South Florida, SomeJerk is a music producer, DJ, visual artist and educator pushing bass heavy electronic music, unrestrained by BPM.

In 2007, he was one of the first dubstep artists to emerge from South Florida, as a producer, DJ and promoter pushing what was at the time, the next big but unheard thing. 

As the genre became more focused on aggressive, mid range wobbles, he found himself leaning more toward the roots of dubstep; 2step garage, broken beat and grime styles were more of the focus of sets over wobbles. Eventually he would find himself focusing on his original and true love, the sounds of jungle and drum and bass.

Cutting his teeth at the legendary Laundry Bar on South Beach and regularly DJing and collaborating on events at Get Low/Shake at the Vagabond, SomeJerk has been fortunate to work with open minded, talented and resourceful artists and crews. The spirit of SomeJerk is collaborating with others to share the traditions and culture of bass music with new audiences. 

Over the years, SomeJerk has released original music, collaborations and remixes on the following labels: Futura, Signaflo, American Grime, Samsara, Ground Mass, Seclusiasis, Strange Bass, Version Collective as well as having original productions featured in documentary soundtracks.

In 2010, SomeJerk began his educational career as a music production teacher at the Scratch DJ Academy in Miami. In addition to teaching hundreds of prospective artists the ways of using Ableton Live to create music, he also leads various in person meet ups, inviting other local producers to share their techniques and insights. 

At the beginning of 2020, SomeJerk started his second label, Futura, serving as the primary platform for releasing his drum and bass, jungle and downtempo production. Additionally, there are a number of secret labels and aliases that are used to release house, breakcore, IDM and other styles that don’t quite fit the “SomeJerk sound”.
