In an ever growing sea of sound one star that continues to shine bright is the prolific Lis Sarroca. The
Barcelona based talent continues to propel her dynamic dance floor ethos as she sets up shop for
another year of
positive growth. The half Mexican, half Spanish artist has an impeccable instinct for
uncovering the dustiest of gems, and truly embraces the journey of exploring music and welcoming new
tastes and textures to her artillery, never allowing herself to becom
e strained by genres.
You may already be familiar with Lis’ stellar output on heavyweight labels such as the legendary Chiwax
imprint with her “Booyah” EP, her output on the Shall Not Fade label (where she will be returning in
2022), Hot Haus Records, and
quite notably her own Maai Records which was launched in 2021. In its
short life Maai has already received love from across the board. A platform which allows Lis to express
herself to the maximum, but simultaneously push fellow artists and friends she mee
ts along the way.
Slotting in perfectly amongst Lis’ hectic release schedule is a single release which will land on the
acclaimed !K7 DJ Kicks Compilation from none other than Cinthie.
Inevitably Lis’ passion does not lie with just production, as her elega
ntly selected DJ sets are earning her
serious stripes amongst the tastemakers out there. Her ability to paint pictures via sound has earned her
sets at the likes of Fabric (London), Sisyphos (Berlin), Moog (Barcelona), several spots at Frankfurt’s
Rawax ev
ents, and her own Maai Records showcase in Mexico City. Moving forward at an alarming rate
Lis has already signed off a series of bucket list gigs for the coming period which will all be revealed in
due course.
When your work ethic is as strong as Lis’, po
sitive results are inevitable but it is her charming and
infectious energy she portrays via her music which means she will continue on this upward journey in the
coming years.

Our next mix from North Carolina native @martekafair is becoming a regular fixture in the DC and North Carolina techno scenes, supporting artists from Kittens at Flash DC to Perc at the new warehouse pop up, Sometimes in Durham. The eclectic nature of her DJ sets are not a reflection of a refusal to commit to one genre. Rather, they point toward exceptional taste and a uniquely encyclopedic love of club music, which is front and in her productions.

Mix #387 in our series comes from Bristol based dj & producer, Red Rack'em. Red Rack'em has previously released on Wolf Music & Innervisions. He has run Bergerac records since 2010 where he has also released on.

Red Rack'em had this to say about the mix..
"This mix is completely inspired by the life changing experience of living in Berlin between 2011-18. I was lucky enough to play in the city nearly every month for almost 8 years at a variety of great venues and I took full advantage of the adventurous set times I was often given. I was often booked to play the morning sets, which was amazing as I didn't have the pressure of the peak time set and I could really experiment in clubs with crowds who danced until midday and with powerful sound systems which made the records sound even better. I was able to play at a wide range of clubs as a DJ in Berlin because I could play most shades of house, techno (but not the super hard stuff), broken beat, disco, UKG stuff, jazzy stuff and more. This was actually an asset I think as I could play disco influenced stuff in the red room at Renate, the deepest house ever in the lobby at Blank or swingy raw techno and electro in the Silo at Muehle. 8 hours back to back with Franklin De Costa in the main room at Kater Holzig starting at 6am on a Sunday morning, playing in the morning after Bambounou at Chalet, warming up for Danny Wang at Renate, covering for Jazzanova at Fete De La Musique, playing the day after I arrived at Woodys birthday at Heidegluhn (there were a few untagged photos on FB after that) - the variety of DJing possible was amazing. 

I was often booked from 4-8am, 6-9am (breakfast set) or even sometimes 8-12am. I would try to have an early night - get a few hours of excited half sleep and then head to the club around 1 hour before I played. I used to turn up and people would be FUCKED but that was great as it meant they would appreciate the music more.  I would have a few rapid shots of vodka or pfeffi depending on the venue to get myself feeling a bit dizzy and begin to play. 3 hours is the standard set time in Berlin clubs which is a perfect set length for me - enough time to have a few peaks, twists and turns. Club wise, I would say this mix is inspired by playing at places like Loftus Hall circa 2012, Mothers Finest at Griessmuehle circa 2016 and of course all the times I played at About Blank back in the day. I never really had to compromise musically in Berlin - apart from playing a bit more harder and manic. Which suited me fine. 

In terms of tunes - it's vinyl only - not to be wanky - I just don't have any CDJs at home, quite a lot of it comes from Diamonds and Pearls distribution in Berlin - huge shouts to Johannes for being generous with the test pressings over the years and also some bits I picked up at the great Bikini Waxx shop in Berlin - I really like their selection there, and of course OYE records who were also my go to shop in Berlin. But yeah vibes wise, I just wanted to get down some of the more techno and jacking vibes I like. Hope you enjoy it. "

Abstrakt Dance records gets the next release on the schedule with a much anticipated E.P from a name much touted in many circles as a name to watch in 2023.
Multi skilled producer & DJ Paul Mitchell presents his new forthcoming release on Abstrakt Dance  after having a slew of sort after releases on labels such as Mixcult, Stark Futures, Dred  and also Kingsize records. Paul’s love of electronic synth music started with his love of New Romantic and later B Boy Hip Hop which led to him producing music while still at school. With the advent of the Acid House scene Paul became serious about making music and decided it was something he wanted to pursue seriously and invested in a studio and the rest as they say is history.
The ‘Recharge EP is 3 slabs of authentic heads down deep tech / underground House all with Paul’s trade mark sound of driving basslines, edgy chords and otherworldly sound effects. Being a DJ as well as a producer it’s very evident that he knows what works on a dancefloor.
