urban imagery - the reflection of the struggles and emotions of the inner city through music

dark city ensemble, the collaborative effort of chris gray and darand land, and best known for their sought-after works on the cult label deep4life, present four recovered tracks from the archives. all material contained in the ep was originally produced during the d4l/sound principle era and possesses the emotive overtones that captured the minds of that special period.

	the overriding characteristic that remains consistent throughout the release is the aquatic funkiness driven by liquid pads, syncopated sub basslines and the use of organic synth melodies. it is a sound used by the duo over the years to communicate their interpretation of deep house as a lifestyle.
