Indie Dance - Selected & Mixed Vol.23

Here is a mixtape that reflects my personality and taste in dance music, with this mix I was inclined to fuse indie dance and Dark Disco to tell my story of the past months. This style has also been influencing the sound of our brand-new label @levant disco, as well as our musical taste in the future of dance music, deriving in it many musical ideals. This mixtape contains for me the representative sounds for a genre which we have experimenting with, so I happily present you this blend of sounds, and hoping you to enjoy it as much as we do 😊 If you like this mix follow me on SoundCloud for my upcoming releases and hear the fresh sound that we have been experimenting in our sonic lab!

I had the honour to play the last set on the mainfloor (Ballsaal) on that sunday morning between Galloppierende Zuversicht live and Sven Dohse, who was opening up the terrace floor outside after me.

I really apprecciated the sparkling motivation and the patience of the crowd, which made me confident to play some tunes I usually wouldn't play at that time of the day on a mainfloor. I first tried to adapt to the rather electric-techy sound of the previous live act, but then slowly shifted over to some softer but still very much driven house stuff.

Thanks and a huge big up to the Hot und Hü-crew, who keeps the Schatzalp-vibe more than alive!

I never know what vibe mix I’ll be making for you each month, many factors play a part in this, what sets I’ve been playing recently on tour or what I’m feeling personally inside. After a run of playing full power Turbo sets at festivals along with a challenging few weeks losing someone very dear to me, I felt the need to head to the deep side of me to create a thought provoking heads down hypnotic journey.

The banging driving side this month comes from one of my musical heroes Drunken Kong from Japan, they deliver an awesome exclusive guest mix.

Karl Draum, hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, grew up amidst the vibrancy and creative chaos of the 90s. His inspiration is rooted in Swedish melodic heritage with additional influences from EBM, italo, trance, and 90s Eurodance.
Karl's debut track, "Control Me”, was released on the respected label Club Mackan and has been played in mixes released by the likes Khidi, Minitel and Something Spæcial. His style is an eclectic fusion, and his DJ sets are characterized by high energy and infectious melodies, marrying the darker, more intense side of electronic music with the euphoric melodies of Italo Body Music and trance, creating a powerful and emotive musical experience.

A monthly attraction on Markus Schulz's acclaimed Global DJ Broadcast radio show is his World Tour series - bringing the listener an opportunity to sample his DJ sets in the live environment. 

For the June 2024 edition, he showcases no less than three clubbing cultures across the Americas - with stops at Amerika Disco in Buenos Aires, Espaco Taal in Sao Paulo and the legendary Stereo in Montreal; of which Markus' new single under his Dakota alias is dedicated.
