A healthy dose of Australasian music, you say? For the uninitiated, Electric Wire Hustle are a Kiwi trio that tastefully hopscotch between hip hop, psychedelia and soul. They're two albums deep, with their self-titled LP (2010) and last year's Love Can Prevail already under their belts - both of which stand as CV-worthy, full-bodied dives into the land of off-kilter boom bap and Marvin Gaye-esque crooning.

With Spring 2015 on its way, EWH are preparing to drop the  Love Can Prevail Remix EP . Entries come from across time zones, with Osunlade,  Flako, Eliphino and Computer Jay  on the bill. Yet for us,  Seven Davis Jr.'s rejig of "Look Into The Sky" came up top trumps. Maybe it's the loosey-goosey, soulful house energy that first grabbed us. Or the vaguely Todd Edwards-tinged aftertaste it leaves in the mouth? Either way, it's honey for both the dancefloor late shift and Sunday lounge in equal measure. 

The  Love Can Prevail Remix EP is set to arrive in May to coincide  with their 9 date European tour later this month. Dates include stop-offs in Stockholm, Warsaw (RBMA event), Munich, Berlin and  a night at Oslo in London (April 18).

After the success of the Electric Wire Hustle ‘If These Are The Last Days’ album in 2014, somethinksounds reflect on some of the biggest tracks from the album with the help of a few talented friends. 

Up first is Osunlade, who under his ‘Yoruba Soul’ moniker thoughtfully lays small dose of voodoo house on wax. The outcome is something spiritual and ritualistic, relentless in its drive whilst patient in its approach.

Flako on the other hand strips the whole thing back to leave Mara TK’s vocal at centre stage. Surrounded only by shimmering bells and woodblock hits, the track builds to a climax until joined by intricate high hat patterns and flute melodies.

Up next is man of the moment Seven Davis Jr who brings his usual bumpty fare to the mix. Sampled drums and housey chords pave the way with SDJR at points layering the original vocal with his own to devastating effect. In what is an classy bit of production the track switches up into a jazz drum pattern at around the mid way point and takes the track to epic and frantic finish.

Finally somethinksounds family member Eliphino steps up to round off what is a great package with a piano house stomper take on ‘If This Is The Last Day’

Computer Jay comes correct with with a stunning rework of Look In The Sky to top of a roster of artists we are extremely proud of.

Our approach to music is always a caveman style, which is no different to this track. We played around with many of the samples throwing them in drum kits or adding loads of reverb and filters until one just popped out at us. After that its really just seeing what unfolds (we did threaten to quit music in the making of this track but it started to work and we were saved lol) We also borrowed a Push from a friend and it helped alot with laying down the drums and some of the synths.
