A song written by Daniel (7 years old).  Nick was playing the bass riff and Daniel started to ad-lib lyrics to it.  He then refined the lyrics and melody over a few weeks.   It was arranged and recorded on 22 February 2016. 
Daniel should feel very proud of his first track!

The Sweety Song

The Sweety Song (sung by Daniel, aged 7)

The idea for this track started with the chord sequence you hear at the very beginning of the song, along with a simple drum-beat in 6/8.  Nick then came across an audio recording of Steve Orlen reading one of his poems.  The phrases were edited so they would fit the timing of the music.  The original version of this track was recorded in 2004 and Nick sent a copy of the recording (via CD) to Steve.  Nick was so pleased when Steve wrote back and said he was very surprised and flattered to hear his voice over electronic music.
Sometrue() decided to revisit this track; Claire helped with the arrangement, added a nice vocal hook (shown in italics) and we re-recorded and mixed the track in 2016.
The original poem is fantastic so we have included it below in its original structure. We tried to preserve the structure in this track as we think Steve's delivery is brilliant.

After “Where were you born?” and “How long were you married?”
Comes the first sip of wine, and after that the clash of cutlery
And the shuffling shoes of the waiter, then the silence so brief
You almost don't hear it. “What are the smallest objects you have lost?”
“What sudden smells make you stop and think back?”
And the struggle, the summoning up, the visualizing, the squinting into the past.
         It starts being a stranger to me
         How will it end?

Now and then she interrupts and asks
For a story, a theory, speculations, interpretations.
“How many close friends have died and where do you think they went?”
“And how do you talk to them now that they're gone?”
And your mind is eagerly opening, swelling, a cavern in which

Now dart around like bats with their insistent, intimate squeakings.
“Did your mother like you?” How do you start a conversation with a stranger?

The conversation a call and response, and when she enters the taxi,
And waves bye-bye, you are left standing at the altar

For clues, for distillations, perfume fresh from the flowers.

This is a classic synth pop song written by Yazoo (Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet) in the 1980s. This is sometrue()'s cover of the track, and it has been a work in progress for Nick ever since he bought his first synth in 1990 (a Yamaha SY35).
