Working on it over a couple of days my imagination led me to a deep dark region of the Atlantic where sirens might lure unwary sailors to a watery grave (other interpretations are undoubtedly available).

The New World - wild sea shanty no:3 ft. holy shitshow

This song struck a chord with John Vallins, a friend who happened to have a studio and, as chance would have it, was even a musician. He liked this one, we recorded it, and the rest is history. If there actually is a history when the seas rise and fires burn.

At the edge of a quarry near home, there’s a mighty grey wall of rock, standing tall like a row of bottom teeth. They’re blasted by salt water, spattered with lichen in blacks, yellows and a fuggy kinda green. They protect the quarry from storms, carrying waves the size of terraced houses and throwing them into the cliff. It’s a great place to watch sea foam, the bath bubbles flying by, gulls and gorse in tow. This song is inspired by some incredible people in my life, and the relationships which got dark and heavy when dark and heavy things happened. They love in a naked, brave, messy and defiant way, despite the risk of loss and vulnerability. With the power of those big quarry boulders under my feet, reminding me of the love I’ve felt from friends and lovers alike, I wrote this song.

Somewhere77’ is a London based self-taught solo artist, delivering more of a traditional song writing style with rock, acoustic, folk, country and blues influences.
2024 saw the release of the debut acoustic album “Whipped, Stripped & Almost Unplugged” which is a combination of new songs and acoustic versions of his own original rock songs. 
Further releases of "Take Me" and "Won't Let You In" followed although expect more amplified and acoustic tunes to be coming from Somewhere77' in the near future.
