Poolside after a heavy weekend of partying at the Honcho Campout in West Virginia, it was coming time for @jacob-meehan to do his thing after 2.5 days of an immense amount of music from his peers. Rumor had it he was going to play ambient/new age, but it was hard to believe as the dance-floor was raging to peak-time house with no sign of aging. Another obstacle? The DJ booth had been electric shocking people all weekend and the problem had spread to the turntables. Needless to say Meehan took another route and had to leave a bag of lighter fare to the side as he swung dancers into a more main room route. Later on, I asked if he would compose the potcast a mix of the gems waiting in that record bag. This ambient mix is his response, coincidentally recorded at sunrise in front of his parents.

Short Bio:
Since my youth, I believe that music has touched me in away that made me fall in love with its rhythms, harmonies,and melodies. So in the natural progression dancing took over my body, but yet my soul craved for more and that is when playing records surfaced. Ah, then the fascination with the fast dance tracks turned into deep House production through friends and experiences, which blossomed into a Bachelor’s degree in music composition. Liberal arts training allowed me to take classes and learn about human intellect, nature, and essentially my personal definition of art. Synapsis Records and Machining Dreams record labels are born and currently releasing music by, for, and from the underground.

Michael has been involved in the dance music industry for a long time now, and has run the labels, Finale Sessions, Future Sessions and Finale Sessions Limited for over 10 years, as well as djing for the best part of 25 years. Unfortunately Michael is currently fighting cancer, so it got me thinking to the impact he has in the electronic music scene, which was the reason behind putting this show together. In tonight's show, we've got an interview with Andy Vaz, the many behind many a label including Background, A Touch Of Class, Deep Night Essentials, Soundvariation and Yore Records. 

I first came across the Yore label as a fan of Rick Wade's music, and picked up a copy of "Night Of The Living Deep" on Yore-002 in 2007. Been a big fan of the label ever since then, which is over 50 releases deep now. Since then I've been in touch with Andy over the years via the internet, and this show has been in the works for the last few months. Finally got around to getting it sorted out.

For almost 20 years, James Steer has consistently and unassumingly contributed to the after-hours soundtrack of Melbourne. Well respected within the underground Melbourne DJ community, James has built a reputation as a selector who deftly balances exquisite taste with technical execution. James cut his teeth as one of the founders of the legendary Deep Chord Melbourne parties in the early noughties, showcasing the emerging deep minimal sounds of the time to an eager and receptive audience. The party started off as an intimate affair in the confines of the upstairs space of Pony Bar (later Boney), before finding a true home in the legendary basement space of the Mercat Cross. Since then, James has regularly graced the decks at some of Melbourne’s most iconic nightspots, equally adept at delivering funk and disco laden suppertime soundtracks as heaving excursions into deep dance floor dynamics. Drawing from a vast, genre-defying collection, James’ sets offer the listener/dancer a guided tour through the fundamentals of depth, always evolving and never stagnant, a glimpse into the now, with a respectful nod to what’s come before.
