Over the years, Joe Kareh aka DJ Torpedo has expanded his musical horizons by learning to play various instruments, including bass guitar and synthesizer. In 2019, as a lead bassist for the band ILVY, Joe was inspired to incorporate synthesizers into his musical compositions, which eventually led to his interest in electronic music. This curiosity led to him to his first Moog, sparking a newfound love for the genre. In 2020, DJ Torpedo was launched, playing and mixing music from a diverse range of genres including acid house, minimal house, techno, and electro, as well as creating unique sounds, which showcase his versatility as a DJ and producer. Adwer was formerly known as Adept and is a Budapest native who first started making tunes on his Commodore 64. Fast forward some 15 years and he is now deeply immersed in the world of production making both club music but also soundtracks that have been signed to a Warner sub-label. Since 2016 he has been making this label one of the underground's finest. In the past his music has been supported by the likes of Dixon, Ame and Maceo Plex and this new one will likely follow suit.

Opener 'Feel It In My Bones' is an effortlessly breezy sound with captivating melodies and lush vocals with a meandering bassline that works its way into your affections. 'Dark Future' is another blissed-out affair, this time driven by breaks and swooning synth-strings that reach up to the heavens next to a melancholic vocoder vocal. 'Memory Lane' is the most tender track on the EP, with shuffling, delicate and organic rhythms dancing beneath lush summer chords and bright harmonies that fill you with optimism.

Remixer Alisa Filatova is Ukraine-born and Spain based and signed to labels like this one which she helps to manage as well as Natura Viva Black and Gain Records. Her take on 'Memory Lane' is a darker, more club-ready and deep techno sounds with rolling drums and expansive cosmic synth work.

London-based event-series Gradient launches its label and kicks off the new era with a four-tracker from Brent, which goes by the name of Digital Karma. The Liverpudlian therefore delivers four club-ready tracks weaving himself skillfully through various electronic music sub-genres and styles. 

The EP opens with the title track, a homage to 80s synth-sounds which are combined with an Edith Piaf cameo generating a flamboyant French vibe and guaranteeing the EP an exquisite start. 

Up next is the most housey take on the EP, namely Don’t Call The Dr. The lush 4/4 bassline in addition to the robotic vocals as well as the inclusion of rolling triplets in the track’s lows and the overall rather minimalistic approach turn the track to a magic bullet for the floors.

The B-side starts with Liquid Gold, probably the slower and more melodic version of the A2. Liquid Gold comes in with super sweet sung vocals, a lower BPM as the previous tracks and spaced out elements in reference to the EPs title Digital Karma, as latter always strikes back and here it hits audience hard.

Ultimately there’s (S.O.M.) or the most techy track of the EP. With a stamping yet groovey bassline, its vocoder-led ode to Liverpool and a memorable chord-sequence (S.O.M.) offers another musical facet of Brent, who manages to take his listeners all the way through different (sub)genres yet remains true to his style.
