"Miami producer Nick León’s latest offering, Aguacero, is a percussive reflection on a city in flux. Blending organic sounds with the digital tools of electronic music, the 7-track EP encapsulates the growing anxiety in a city threatened by the very things that help make it beautiful — the ocean, the heat, and the cranes in the sky.

The project’s title track is as haunting as it is hypnotic and its winding immersion into the tropics invites you to dance under the moonlight, even as danger abounds. “Pelican Dub,” featuring Uruguayan artist Lila Tirando a Violeta, is a seductive spiral into the digital abyss; seabirds chirp away in the distance as reverb-heavy vocals are chopped and layered under pulsating rhythms apt for an after-hours drive down Biscayne Boulevard. On “Tormenta,” Nick León molds a distinct soundscape that synthesizes the serene sounds of the Americas with a healthy dose of industrial aggression.

South Florida, by virtue of its geography, its history and its migrant population, has birthed some of the world’s most dynamic musicians and movements. If artists from Miami’s past have helped teach the world to dance to thumping bass until the early morning, Nick León’s latest project invites the world to dance through the impending storm of uncertainty ushered in by climate change. There is a slick defiance in Aguacero’s composition, a nod to the sense of nihilism we all feel as the world around us feels increasingly treacherous."

Edited Arts is launching ‘Endorphins’, the first in a new series of charity compilations. Endorphins features contributions by Cassius Select, Ccontrary, DJ TESS, Emily Glass, furious styles, Hard Fantasy, Jaeho Hwang, Jasper Jarvis, Lighght, d0us, Shelley Parker and terribilis.

‘Endorphins’ is a compilation of pre and post cathartic visions & sounds. Embodying the alleviating potential of club music, 12 artists have made sonic references to the happy hormone that acts to relieve pain. Vigorous drums, shy wubs, disobedient trance, lifting breaks, and reclining interludes work towards the unrestrained mindset of this collection. This is the first release from a series that recreates psycho-sensory states of happiness, or the lack thereof.

Profits from this release will go to Black Minds Matter and Drake Music.

CLMxGUN is happy to present Chain of Whispers, a two-fold EP exploring further collaborative production processes. Like a murmur in the wind, a secret being delivered from ear to ear, it is born from a playful approach to sound manipulation and its transformation when passed from one hand to another. An embodiment of how music can be altered by each and every contribution.

Through a defined set of constraints based on the Telephone game, the concept is simple : each successive track is a remix of the previous one, and the contributors could not hear what was done before them. So on and so forth. A continuous cycle of appropriation and re-interpretation.

From this experiment resulted two 7-track EPs, two chains which gathered 11 artists, each with their own identity and their own input. With each new link in the chain, the sound mutates, speeds up or slows down - some of its elements are exacerbated, while others are concealed or juxtaposed to new ones. 

The first chain welcomes Désiré, HeedLess, indigoblue, Lithe, migu, and SNKLS. It starts from soothing bells and angelic voices to end up with rhythmic patterns and sharp impacts. A journey through a collective world with its own soundscapes and wonders.

Goodbye 2020. While we truly hope the year to come will be much more forgiving to all, some odd times are still ahead of us, and we need your help to get through them to keep us afloat.

In this time of celebration and end-of-the-year wrap-ups, we wanted to thank you all for your support with a modest gift to round off the end of this rough year. We have brought together in a single pack all our releases and projects of 2020, which you can freely download at the link below. 

The re-pack also includes 26 bonus tracks from our GUN community. Among the participants, you can find some old heads and more recent newcomers, who were incredibly kind to offer you little treats for your ears - a mix of forthcoming material, unreleased edits and still-in-progress demos. Thanks a lot to /pulsr_, 1.5L, 116111, Cosmic Caz, Cralias, GRIG, HeedLess, indigoblue, Lithe, LMN3, M. It will soon be a year since the music has slowed down due to the COVID crisis. For months, we kept holding the bar, without wavering, with the few financial resources available, but above all thanks to the incredible collective strength the CLMxGUN project has been bringing for several years now. Like many artists and collectives around the world, our financial equilibrium was based on a fine balance between the different projects we released and the events that we loved to organize. The impossibility to promote events since March has had a profound impact on our incomes, and our ability to sustain our activity in a qualitative way.
 
This 2020 RE-PACK is also an opportunity for us to call for donations. We appeal to your kindness, to your support, to you who have been following us for a long time, or recently, who have loved our project, our events, or the concept of collective and open-source music label that we have been trying to develop. With the CLMxGUN project, we intend to foster a spirit of mutual aid and sharing, which happens among the GUN community and through the various projects we run, but which is equally important to develop with our audience and our supporters. 

Your financial support, however small, is crucial to our activity. A major rework of the CLMxGUN organization has been in preparation for a few months, and 2021 will see a new version of GUN, that hopefully will lead to exciting new projects pushing further its collaborative practices, as well as the type of projects we are able to propose to the public.

Proposing high-quality and experimental audiovisual material to the larger number is part of our core values, and that is why we always try to keep our releases and projects freely accessible as much as possible. We want to deeply thank everyone who has supported us in the past, but unfortunately we’re reaching a point where more help is needed if we want to keep going without having to make concessions, and to evolve towards a better model for our participating artists - who already contribute on a voluntary basis, as most of our benefits are used for common resources and infrastructures.

We hope that with your support, we will be able to keep bringing to you moments of escape and relief, which are much needed to navigate these troubling times.

Let’s hope we can celebrate and dance together soon. In the meantime, take care of yourself and those you love.
