Comastasis (he/him) is a producer and DJ based in Helsinki, Finland who manipulates an incessant flow of sound stimuli and sonic violence bursts in the shape of abstract post-club outings, influenced by grime and industrial music. After hosting “Stagnant” paynomindtous.bandcamp.com/track/comastasis-stagnant, one of his many remarkable tracks, inside our 2020 mammoth v/a compilation “WE NEVER WILL”, we are so glad to present you his latest work which furthers the producer’s investigations into heavily rhythmic, unsettling experimental music: Ross 308 EP.

Named after the proprietary commercial name of a particular breed of chicken, bred for life in atrociously overcrowded warehouses to grow as fast as possible (thereby often incurring dramatic health conditions leading to organ and bone failure) so to maximize profits of the corporate machine, the release revolves around the feeling of melancholy and world-weariness which, in the case of factory farming, has been condensed into a single physical representation in a time and space. The sound palette used by Comastasis captures the anguish and the stench exhaling from the slaughterhouses and constricts it into music. A perpetual swarm of stress-drenched flesh turned inside-out washing over you; a passing swirl of tendons snapping at the root of your ear with ASMR-like quality and putting you in intimate contact with agony and embedding you in their misery.

Ross 308 EP is composed of three original tracks and features remixes by the Finnish multidisciplinary artist @exmantera, and by the singer, poet, artist, and music producer @yikii, based in China. While the former provides a both rusty and sharp, clangy re-interpretation of the eponymous opening track which manages to even turn the knife in the wound, the latter offers an eerie re-interpretation of the Fermented Biomass composition in the form of an eerie industrial ballad, a dark, sneering lullaby for dismembered and mangled limbs.

Santa Sede, based in Buenos Aires, is a pioneering netlabel in experimental club music, led by Erótica Castro and JM Croce. @katnzingha is a trans, multidisciplinary experimental artist born and raised in Philadelphia. Their artistic practices explore abstruse textures through sonic and sculptural materials. Combining their sculptural works with heavy low-end frequencies and celebratory tones they create blissfully cryptic sonic resonances that are the extended bodies of the modified objects they fabricate. Kat Nzingha uses convulsing kicks, metallic percussion, and hyper-processed textures to design sound, and distinct repetitive techniques, industrial materials, and elongated forms in their sculptural works. After releasing an EP, "Angeltribe" on London label TT in 2020, and "Vorphic Skin" on Toothgrinder Press in 2023, Kat Nzingha released the album "Grind" on AngeltribeXTL. Shorty after, they released “RIM” under the artist name “BRYYA” on the label formfourm which consists of heavy focused sound design techniques.

INTERLUDIO: CICATRIZ

Houston's Majia label delivers their second release expanding on the label's imagined underworld where grime and reggaetón experiments cross paths.

Majia is headed up by Santa Muerte,  who've created a name for themselves with major support from Fader, Fact Magazine, Dummy Mag and Resident Advisor to name a few and who also have a monthly show on the infamous London RINSEFM.

With this release they bring you NAAFI cohort OMAAR who is no new name to the game. His tracks have been  played by many big grime dj's and on big stations as Rinse Fm and NTS to name a few.  His forthcoming ep is titled “Fallen Angel.”  The title track Fallen Angel is on the weightless side with melancholic synths and hair raising melodies. On the flip “Monkey Slap” and “Mines Evo” are a lot heavier and ready to be MC laced out in the club.  On remix duty Triple S drops a grime time bomb repping the UK on his remix of “Mines Evo.” Seattle’s Korma flips “Fallen Angel” into a half step grime riddim and last but not least Cybersonic LA’s head queen Sha Sha Kimbo gives “Fallen Angel” a 160 bpm workout to round out the release.
