The Phonica artist and innovative house producer Harrison BDP steps up for the next edition of our mix series with a tipping of the hat to the many sounds of the clubbing 90's.
Having released on an array of big labels like Haŵs, Shall Not Fade and Lost Palms over the years Harrison has cemented himself as one of the solid names in UK house in modern years. We had a chat with Harrison about the mix and what he has coming up below:

Phonica Mix Series 114: Harrison BDP

Influenced by early 90s hip-hop’s use of samples, and his own experiences as an MC, DJ, sound designer and audio engineer, Bru’s sample-heavy music production mixes diverse sounds pulled from found internet videos into deep, mid-tempo house tracks.

His sounds reference and pay homage to older traditions in music but come skillfully into their own as soulful tracks. He released his debut album, MidCity (Audio Parallax), in 2012, and has followed up since with a slew of 12”s over the the last few years including 2 releases in 2016 (Roach fingers EP on Ego planet and Science Is Science on local Vancouver imprint MSLX) Bru has been a fixture in Vancouver’s party seen for the last 7 years opening up for acts like move d, Akufen, Eddie c, Prosumer, Cut Head, Jacob Korn,and Nathan Johnson.

Holding down a residency at the summer special series since its inception and throwing shows with sister and local staple Myte and long time music maker Secret Lover. His dj sets gravitate towards the Detroit/Chicago House/Techno side, always with room for disco and soul.

We’re more than sure that this one will be a proper treat for all the true house heads out there. Welsh producer and DJ Harrison BDP has been turning heads and making bodies swirl since 2015. Well at least that’s the year when his maiden release dropped on Gents & Dandys records. Maybe it all started earlier and we’re about to find out. 

It’s also worth mentioning that Harrison has quite a few rock-solid releases under his belt and we would even dare to say that Harrison’s track “Decompression” (STRCTR records, 2017) would make it to the Top 5 of deep house tracks that were made in the last few years. So we’re really stoked and hyped to host Harrison at our “Mixed by” series today and feel more than eager to ask him a few questions about the past, present and future.
