Ahead of NorthSouth Records’ 5th birthday in Room 2, label co-boss Sam Bangura delivers us a dreamy and pulsating 1.5 hour mix – an apt showcase of the label co-boss’s bold yet sparse signature sound.

Sam’s well on his way up, his debut 12-inch Hullabaloo last year was an edgy take on contemporary tech-house, and more recently his Brainsurfers - HMSB EP with our resident and fellow NorthSouth boss Harry McCanna, arrived to critical acclaim and a warm response reflective of the textural and airy sonics that float through both sides of the release.

“Celebrating 5 years of NorthSouth at fabric is massive for us, it’s the place that the three of us have probably spent more time clubbing than anywhere else, and hosting NorthSouth there has been a dream for us since the label was born. This mix is part of my interpretation of the NorthSouth sound, flowing through a number of styles and moods, hopefully locking the listener into a groove to lose themselves wherever they may be for a chunk of their day…” – Sam

Almost four years after his first appearance on our platform, the visionary London-based DJ, producer, and label owner continues to impress with his crystalline productions and varied yet energetic DJ sets, not changed over the course of time if not for a faster, more driving bpm approach. Belgian artist Mandana is a firm favourite on the circuit, from Ibiza to France, Germany to Barcelona and back to her home turf of Belguim and her beloved Amsterdam. A regular for the likes of VBX she will again be turning out for their annual throwdown at BRET and she has a keen ear for the finest grooves. Production wise she has also cut her teeth with some of the biggest labels in the business with Loco Dice and his Desolat stable as well as Archie Hamilton’s Moscow Records.

With an ear firmly on the originators but with both eyes locked on the future of house and techno Mandana. From the very first track on her mix for our InSession series it is clear that she puts in the hours digging for just the right vibe that will set her apart from her peers. Electro tinged breaks, lush deep house and punchy grooves this mix has it all. One of the early protagonists of this much-misunderstood sub-genre is Asad Rzvi aka Silverlining. His nineties deep, groovey garage tinged house is nothing short of seminal and appearing first on OG labels such as Wiggle and Wrong, Asad set a template for what would become such a huge sound of current times.
