Acoustic Christian Music about being alone.

You don't write a song like "I Am Not Alone" unless you're feeling alone. I wrote the song going down a stretch of I-5 between Seattle and Portland. I felt very alone at the time- not only was I by myself in the car, but I felt isolated and cut off from the place and people I loved. You might know that Jesus was "wounded in the house of His friends". It's sad, but not that unusual for the same to happen to those who follow Him. It can be very painful to be wounded by your church, and this time it was me who was experiencing it. I won't go into all the details here because they really don't matter. What does matter is that God was with me- God was with me when I felt know one else was. I sang this song over and over again as I drove that day, and each time I sang it I felt renewed in my strength. GOD was with me, I was NOT alone.

Storms are sure to come to the Christian in this life, and one of the most difficult is when you are wounded by your family, friends, or church. Take heart, God has not forgotten you or left you alone.

I Am Not Alone

Have you seen the people who walk around in the T-Shirts that say "Believe"?

I always want to say, "Believe what?" 

It's not enough just to "have faith" or to "believe". I know it sounds very spiritual to talk like that but it really does nothing for you. Belief by itself is nothing; faith itself is nothing.  In what, or who, do do you believe exactly?

My song "I Believe" isn't like wearing a "Believe" t-shirt. It's very, very clear about what, and who, I believe in. Jesus Christ isn't some metaphysical idea and the cross He died on wasn't merely a concept- it was all very real, very tangible.

I Believe

The song "Precious In My Eyes" came out of a conversation I was having with God. I was feeling pretty down and defeated at the time and was telling God all about it. He reminded me that I am precious in His eyes, and that He loves me. No matter how high the waves get He doesn't lose sight of me in the storm. His love is amazing and this song is about that. It's easy to feel defeated sometimes as a Christian, but we need to remember that God is always there for us and never let's us go!



Precious In My Eyes

A song about forgiveness. Everything Jesus taught centers around love and forgiveness, but when it comes to us having to forgive those who have hurt us it can be really hard to do. I wrote "You Must Forgive" when I was faced with a relationship that I was badly hurt by and I couldn't forgive. Day after day I tried but it seemed impossible for me to do. I prayed and prayed about the anger and resentment I felt in my heart toward this person, but no matter what I couldn't let my feelings go. One day I read where Jesus said that I MUST forgive, because He had also forgiven me. That was the day I got a breakthrough and love and forgiveness flowed again.

You Must Forgive

I wrote "All I Wanna Do Is Worship" driving home to Wisconsin from a church I had just sung at in the Carolina's. As I drove through the scenic countryside enjoying the beautiful mountains that make up the area, my eyes were filled with the brillant colors of wildflowers that seemed to be everywhere- and they went on forever! "What an amazing world God has created!" It sparked worship, praise and adoration for Him! I sang the chorus of the song over and over again as I went down that road.

A few months later I headed across the country and ended up this time on the West Coast. I had come to another place of immense beauty. As I stood in a church parking lot I looked across a field of green and heard deep rolling thunder in the distance and my second verse was born...

"The grassy fields, the rolling thunder
The world you made is filled with wonder!"  

God's hand is seen everywhere on this earth if we'll just open our eyes and look!

"And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory." (Isaiah 6:3)

Of course the greatest wonder of all is that the God who created the whole earth and everything in it; the same One who fills the whole earth with His glory- has come to make His home in me. "Who am I that He should consider me?" has been echoed throughout time by all who have contemplated such a great love from such a mighty God. We seem to be so small in the scheme of things, but in truth, we are at the center of His heart and the apple of His eye!

All I Wanna Do Is Worship

Jesus took the worst form of torture and punishment and turned it into healing for the world. One thing you'll notice about God is that He's always redemptive- He's always about finding a way to bring us to a higher place. If He finds us in a pit He reaches down into it to pull us out. He's never about pointing a finger and saying, "There, I told you so!" He's never about accusation. Even if everyone around you is condemning you, Jesus will take no joy in it, nor does he join them. He's always about removing the stain of sin and saying, "Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more!"

The cross is the ultimate demonstration of God's love. It's the place where Jesus took the punishment we deserved.

"But He was pierced for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on Him,
and by His wounds we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)

You see that phrase? "The punishment that brought us peace". That's what the cross was all about.

I personally like the very slow reflective pauses of "Come To The Cross"- it speaks to me of the perfect peace of Jesus and the way He brings us out of the storm of sin, to a quiet place of still waters.

I chose Daniel Anderson to play piano for the whole album because He doesn't just play, He feels the music at his core- this song especially reflects that. I'd also like to thank Susie Krauter for singing the beautiful background vocals on this song as well as many others on the album. I can't imagine a sweeter voice to sing the love of Jesus! Both of them are Christians and know deeply what this song is about, and I think that it gives the song a certain depth and beauty because of it.

Have you "come to the cross"? Have you came to reflect on all that Jesus has done for you there? Are you convinced of His love for you? If not, why not? He invites you to come to Him and assures that no one who does will ever be turned away.

"Everyone whom the Father gives me will come to me. I will never turn away anyone who comes to me." (John 6:37)

Come To The Cross

"Wash Me Lord" was written very early in my Christian life. I was very aware that I was a sinner and needed cleansing. The truth is, that awareness should always be near us- we should never think for even a moment that we are clean in ourselves. We need Jesus and His cleansing blood every bit as much as the first day we came to see that we needed a Savior. It's a terrible thing when we get self satisfied and think that now we're really getting along pretty well and can do without the cries to God for cleansing that once marked our lives. We are always in need and He is always there to meet our need without even a hint of accusation. Come to Him then, and ask Him to wash you anew in His holy blood.

Wash Me Lord

As a child I had a few bible books that intrigued me. They told stories of long ago and far away places and were illustrated with wonderfully imaginative drawings. One of my favorites was an old thick green book about the life of Jesus. In it's pages were hidden treasures revealing how heaven came down to earth in the person of Jesus Christ. I can still remember pondering the gravity and glory of it all, captivated by the spiritual world told about in those worn pages.

The story of Jesus really is the greatest story ever told. This song tells that story...

Who am I and why am I here? Life has a way of taking us places we thought we'd never end up. Sometimes it feels like we're wandering through life without a purpose, or maybe we've made such a mess that it seems impossible to fix. It might sound crazy, but I found that Jesus could make a HUGE difference in my life. I wasn't really looking to "get saved" or "be religious" at the time, but what I got from Him was so much more than I ever thought was possible!

Where Has Life Taken You?

Why do we judge others when we've done so much ourselves? As a Christian, I don't want to be the judge of the world! So, I wrote this song about myself. I realized that Jesus kept forgiving me over and over again- Literally all I ever did was cry to Him for mercy and grace! Well, He just wanted me to forgive and love others the same way He'd done for me. He wanted me to drop my judgmental attitude!

Where Is The Love?

This is my depression song. Some friends asked me recently if I'd been writing any new stuff and I told them, "Yeah, I just finished my depression song." I got some blank stares, silence, and finally "Oh, that's nice. Anything else?" I guess people just aren't comfortable talking about depression. I write Christian music and a lot of Christians don't feel you should be depressed if you have faith. We're not supposed to be depressed, we have Jesus- you know the story. But, of course, being fake about stuff like this doesn't do you any good. The bible is actually totally open about this subject and doesn't try to hide it. Nobody wants to be depressed, but if you are, talking about it with others can really help. The bible also tells us to pour our hearts out to God. There's nothing wrong with crying out and admitting you need help!


I'm All Alone

"Be still and know that I am God"- Psalm 46:10

We'd rather look at our iPad and spend time with our glowing screen than look up to the heavens at the starry expanse and take a walk with God! The vastness of the universe is crying out telling of the glory of God, but most of us never take the time to notice. There's nothing like the expanse of a starry night sky to bring the wonder and awe of the One who created it all to our hearts!

Be Still

Of course there's tons of benefits to following Jesus, but then there's that thing about dying to ourselves, and that's where we have a really hard time. Are we really convinced that He's worth everything we might have to give up if we want to be real followers of him?

Jesus takes death and turns it into the sweetness of eternal life.

A Rose In Bloom

Angels watch over us, guard and protect us, and are sent by God to keep us safe in this world. We are constantly surrounded by angels and the bible says an epic battle is taking place in the invisible spiritual realm on our behalf.

One of the scariest things Jesus talked about is His warning to people who would lead us into sin and steal our innocence.

"If anyone causes one of these little ones--those who believe in me--to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea." -Matthew 18.6

I wrote this song for someone I care about. It's a prayer for protection and a reminder that God cares about what happens to us and has even sent angels to surround us and keep us safe.

Angels Around You

Some of my closest friends, ones who burned with such love and passion for Jesus that it was literally visible for the whole world to see, flickered out to the point I could no longer see a flame! Backslidding is a very real thing and this is a song I wrote for someone in my life who turned away from God. Jesus doesn't turn His back on us when we wander so we need to pray for those who have walked away. His love can bring them back!

I'm Praying For You

"The love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us." -Romans 5:5

God's love is indescribable, supernatural, powerful and beautiful. I've written lots of songs about God in His many glorious attributes, but surely his love is the crowning jewel.
