I first came upon this super talented neo-soul singer/songwriter on Youtube, and have been hooked ever since. I was not the only one waiting (im)patiently for his new record, "Love & Music" that dropped in November. Perfect blend of that golden throated, honey dripping voice complete with incredible runs, coupled with some great lyrics and adventurous production make this one of my favorite records of the month.

"Creating this song and video was a true labor of love. It was recorded by myself and three other friends, all of whom are fans of "The Civil Wars". It is a 100% "from scratch" creation. Meaning all the music was created by us, from ear and with absolutely no sheet music. I'd like to mention that all of the separate tracks were recorded in different parts of the country at different times; and none of us were ever in direct voice communication with each other. Everything was done via Facebook messaging and Dropbox. Oh, and none of us have access to what you would consider a "professional" recording studio either. All audio was recorded using either Apple's GarageBand, or IK Multimedia's VocalLive, and the video was edited together using iMovie. It's really amazing what modern technology allows you to do. :)"

I LOVE Ms. Garcia's voice on this totally pro technoelectronica track by Dyz Lecticus. I hope to hear a lot more of this kind of music from her in the future. Good writing, gorgeous soaring vocals, and Dyz Lecticus laid down some seriously f'd up (in a good way) tracks for her to work with. SOLID.

And it is really, really easy to make both kinds of music and get songs in front of just about anyone these days. It can be next to impossible for excellent artists to get heard through the music that is...not as excellent.

So, when I hear songs that I think don't suck, I want to tell everyone I know about them. Ergo: Songs that Don't Suck.

About me: I am an award winning, twice Grammy© nominated singer/songwriter with 8 records and multiple singles released under Holly Figueroa and Holly O'Reilly, and various permutations of that name. (Don't ask.)

I'm a producer, and volunteer as a mentor and hip hop/rap/R&amp;B produce/engineer for underserved youth.
