Following on from the February 2022 remixes, Meanwhile now returns to Alex O’Rion’s EP as “Echium Remixed, Pt. 2” continues with another trio of outstanding interpretations.

A legendary figure in the world of art, music and underground dance, Roger Martinez has been a central figure with his kaleidoscopic sound and spiritual influences. Music signed to Lost & Found, Replug and his own Higher States have confirmed this status while July 2020’s “Cosmic” was a further notable highlight on Meanwhile. Now returning to GMJ & Matter’s imprint, the Roger Martinez remix of “The Chase” is an uptempo offering that draws on his musical influences with a powerful beat and deep bass groove. Using pitched elements from Alex’s original, vocal cuts shift in stereo-panned glory and epic white-noise risers and infinite delays create a dense swirling atmosphere. Pausing at the breakdown to introduce additional melodic elements, the track then drops back into its hypnotic groove as new melodic motifs create the aptly titled “Interdimensional Remix”.

GMJ & Matter return to their flagship imprint with typical flair and aplomb. Able to point to a rich catalogue of original and remix work in both solo and collaborative guises throughout Meanwhile’s two-year reign at the top of the progressive house charts, the Melbourne based duo provide a powerful and dynamic rendition of the title track. GMJ & Matter have thus taken the effects fuelled “Echium” and transformed it into a dark seething progressive house monster that lurks beneath gently pulsing waves. Serene in its build, delayed synth phrases cascade over each other in endless delay while new melodies twinkle across the mid-range in trademark-soaked reverb and elegantly stratified sonic layers. Maintaining the aural themes sculpted by Alex O’Rion in the original, GMJ & Matter have successfully navigated a new and dynamic path through the beautiful “Echium”.

Imran Khan has cemented a reputation as one of the progressive house fraternity’s leading lights. Almost a double century of production credits has seen remix and original music land on the likes of Mango Alley, Proton Music and Clinique, since a 2016 debut for the latter. Moreover, 2021’s “Push Thru / Horizonz” and “Equinox” have delighted the Meanwhile faithful. Returning for a third remix, the Imran Khan reworking of “The Serpent” is a typically deep and atmospheric affair with huge thumping beat and cavernous bass groove dominating the low end. Capturing the flowing melodic phrasing of the original, pitched synths and pulsating white-noise risers create a thick soup of sound that evolves in bubbling sonic patterns with their origins in Alex O’Rion’s impressive production technique. The resulting marriage of two musical identities finds Imran Khan once again illustrating his impressive production credentials through trademark sound design.

Another musical triptych pays tribute to the sonic diversity found in Alex O’Rion’s music as Roger Martinez, GMJ & Matter and Imran Khan open up in full bloom through the towering “Echium”.

A Colombian of rare quality and distinction, Kamilo Sanclemente has been a force to be reckoned with via his "Beyond the Future" series. A trio of new track opens "Vol. 4". Joined by Fernanda Olaya on the powerful rhythmic force of "Empty Spaces"., a bouncing bassline is soon accompanied by a beautifully ethereal synth line. Textured pads contribute to an unhurried feel before a sparkling arp and haunting vocal enters at the mid-point. The result is a progressive house tour de force that adds more melodic layers and effects post-breakdown to dramatic effect. A darker vibe exudes from "Dissension" with its steady beat and hypnotic bass sequence. Melodic layers fill the mid-range as a filtered arp rises and falls with the bass pattern. New motifs make their presence felt at the stripped back mid-point as they shimmer and undulate into the second half rhythmic melange. The final offering sees Kamilo and Zalvador create a wonderful "Coalition". Trademark synth lines combine with a heavy beat and rolling percussive groove as filtered motifs and running melodies cascade off each other in bright sonic patterns. Converging half-way, a series of effects and white noise fills sit behind the melodic patterns as the dynamic rhythm creates an immaculate and club-friendly finale.

Danny Bonnici is a name requiring little introduction to the underground dance fraternity. A legendary figure and part of the triumvirate that made up the NuBreed act, the Australian star has gone on to achieve notable success under his own name for over a decade. Collaborations with fellow countryman, Luke Chable, have garnered much success as have releases for the likes of Open Records, Balance Music and John Digweed's Bedrock. Making his Proton Music debut, the Danny Bonnici remix of Kamilo Sanclemente & Mauro Aguirre's "Ambar" is a sparkling, haunting gem that resonates with melodic themes found in the original while a swathe of effects and new production material showcases precisely why the Australian is such a revered figure. Hitting its stride post-breakdown, a glorious new sustained bassline glides across the driving rhythmic foundation while pads and intermittent keys add depth to mesmeric interpretation.

Proton favourites, Trilucid, have mined a rich seam with a trademark sound that sees them sat regularly atop the progressive house charts. Through 2019's "Glint", 2020's "Astral" and July 2022's remarkable "The Loved Are Never Lost", The UK duo have harnessed a glorious sound that speaks volumes for their production prowess. Remixes for Pole Folder, Stas Drive and Petar Dundov have illustrated their credentials as they return to rework Kamilo Sanclemente's "Innocense", written with Giovanny Aparicio. Harnessing the rich melodic vibe, Trilucid have transformed the earworm motif of the original by encasing it within a crisp new rhythmic shell and nourishing it with a shimmering array of new counterpoint melodies that sit effortlessly alongside as though they were destined to be together. The result is a sublime club gem that waxes and wanes with dancefloor know-how, the epitome of exquisite modern progressive house.

Hitting the heights for a timely fourth time, "Beyond The Future" continues to show the way forwards.

To kick off the Amis series on TOR, there was truly only one man for the job.
