Brendon from Viking Moses was an integral part of catalysing the upsurge in energy in the Edinburgh music scene in the early 2000s. Although an American now living in Baltimore, and a little like Canadian songwriter Mark Hamilton from Woodpigeon, he was one of those people who didn't stay that long, but still became a vital part of the movement and of the loose group of friends and co-conspirators who achieved such a lot around that time, and whose work and energy was what drew me into working in music in Edinburgh in the first place.

We've maintained our friendship with Brendon ever since. He booked Meursault's US tour in 2014 and, recorded in our living room for Split 12" Vol.4 last year.

On his most recent tour he was accompanied by Sam Goodwill, and given they were both staying with us, we thought we might as well pop into The Happiness Hotel and do some recording, and this is what we made.

Brendon reunited with old Edinburgh pal Ceylan Hay to record a song they first sand together over ten years ago in house gigs and underground shows in and around town, and she then went on to add her gorgeous vocals to Sam's tune as well, which helps the two tracks fit together so well.

This split single is no more than a gorgeous snapshot of a couple of days last Summer spent hanging out and making music with old friends and new ones. It's not commercial, it's music made for fun, for sociable reasons, and just because we enjoy it. And this makes me happy.
