Canadian born, Berlin based producer @Aquarian debuts on Dekmantel Records’ UFO imprint with Mutations I & II, a series of two EPs following his debut album The Snake That Eats Itself and his collaborative records as AQXDM. The series marks his return to club focused solo material for the first time since 2017.

Originally written as inflection points for his typically boisterous and genre collapsing dj sets, Mutations deftly splices the foundational DNA of his earliest productions — electro, hardcore and broken beat techno – with new and vital influences.

Mutations I: Death, Taxes and Hanger finds Aquarian gleefully contorting mid-2000s dnb tearouts, wrong footed IDM and progressive trance euphoria into thrilling new shapes. Fast techno, hi-tek jazz, amphetamine-addled filter house and breakcore join the fray in Mutations II: Delicious Intent as he pushes intensity levels past breaking point. Whichever the touchstone, the results are clear: distinctly modern, highly-propulsive body music with an unapologetically emotive core.

Our latest premiere is an absolute masterclass in jungle rhythms as Arcane pushes boundaries with his latest track 'Curse of the Pharaohs' from the EP of the same name. Due out Dec 16th on the mighty Irish label Rua Sound / Foxy Jangle listen to it hear first.

His second foray into the Rua Sound and Foxy catalogue sees him push the boundaries of bass infused jungle rhythms, offering rolling breaks, alongside intricate melodies and percussive mastery.

This outing is on the Irish label's stellar jungle series, Foxy Jangle, which has previously featured luminaries such as Sully, Tim Reaper, and FFF. On this double-A release, Arcane marks out his space in the jungle landscape: hard precise drum programming backed with swooping basslines, with bright melodic leads throughout.

The Bristol-based producer is on a run right now, following the release of a collaborative EP with Jon 1st this month, and headlining the Rua Sound weekender last October.

The double track release is out December 16th, with the pre-orders for vinyl and digital available via the Rua Sound Bandcamp here. Don't sleep on it!

Sheffield breakbeat champions & Club Glow collective members Denham Audio make an appearance on Lobster Theremin with Transcendence.

Club Culture is a heady tribute to UK rave culture, combining classic breaks with a monologue from generations past. Denham Audio speed things up on Retort, fusing their love of breakbeats with a sound palette ubiquitous with acid house. On the flip, patois bars punctuate the bleeps-and-breaks of Run Da Ting, while the vocal layered between Top Boy’s whirling bass and digitally distorted drum programming may be recognisable to some. Closing track Transcendence is an ethereal jungle roller with guest vocals from 7ip7o3, that rings true to its name.

‘Transcendence’ drops Friday 12th March, via Lobster Theremin.

London born, Budapest raised, Sonic Rain’s eclectic electronic style reflects the diversity of his homes and his sounds are set to continue spreading worldwide in 2024.

To say that Sonic Rain’s musicality was diverse may be selling him short. Boris Garland trained as a contemporary drummer and classical pianist from a young age before he began to delve into the world of electronic music which could be what creates his soundscape of electronic genres. In his productions, you can hear elements of groovy techno, breakbeat and '90s rave, tied together in a unique package - done his way.

Before moving to Bristol in 2018 Sonic Rain made an impression on the Budapest Drum & Bass scene having resident DJ slots at club nights and playing at illegal raves. The strength of his live performances pushed him to appear several times on pirate radio and managed to link him with various promoting agencies, landing him DJ sets on the A38 ship and at club Akvárium.

Currently residing in Budapest, Sonic Rain is making an impact on more of Europe with a busy tour schedule that included gigs at Sziget Festival and Balaton Sound this past summer and a debut Boiler Room set in December. His music is being supported internationally by heavyweight DJs including Nastia, Daria Kolosova, X-Coast and Om Unit, so stay tuned as it’s about to pour for Sonic Rain.
