'Earthdance events organized throughout the world bring people together in a single moment of focused intention.' Artists, dancers, creatives, crafters, healers, speakers, way-showers and party-goers came together to stomp the earth in the name of unity, peace and celebration. This years edition was nestled along the banks of the Vaal River, an immense blessing to have the spirit of water flowing. The theme for the Jhb event this year was 'Afrofuturism' which explores of the intersection between African diaspora culture with science and technology. 

For the healing and way-showing community, this represents a reemergence of deep reverence and understanding of ancestral wisdom and following the ways of our indigenous intuition, slowly bridging the gap between 'spirituality' and 'science'. This is supported by the curation of a 'healing space', a concept which is gaining momentum in the scene as a necessary collaborative effort to facilitate co-creating a positive future with integrity. Fittingly, a dear sistar organised and hosted the Spirit Floor, which showcased the likes of alternative healing modalities, movement practices, acoustic music, live performances and downtempo sonic journeys. I had the honour and pleasure of closing this floor. 

Ethnic and world music infused electronic beats encouraged the movement of energy through the heart portal, taking one deeper into the fields of love centered awareness, guiding us back home. For it is with embodied love on this planet, that the calm open brightness of a positive future is dreamt into creation. This soundscape was a journey from 102 through to 84 bpm, flowing through ecstatic bangers and emotion tuggers. The feeling of magic is palpable alongside the ceremonial nature of this sound. Give eternal gratitude for these artists for their sonic mastery. May one find upliftment in the experience. Enjoy the story.

May this humble offering act as an ode to the medicine of this time, letting music guide the opening of the heart. Creating fertile soil for seeds of intention to be sown for the year ahead. And by the power of our consistent love and dedication, may they be nurtured into their full bloom.
For us here in the south it was the longest night. Together, we celebrate the rebirth of the sun, illuminating from within, as a new cycle of growth and expansion begins.

This mix was recorded earlier in the year at The Down Temple. This gathering payed homage to the ascension of kryst consciousness through our collective experience, encouraging all to embody a more conscious way of life, gathering in celebration with the intention to support and uplift our kin, so that we may move forward in a way more aligned with nature, clearing the path for our ancestors past and to come, and rehabilitate our relationship with our eternal & divine mama. 

The visionary aspect for this sound journey begins with the energy of a rising at dawn, embracing the warmth of the morning sun and then taking a hike through the forest to a great lake. Along the way, enchanting whispers by forest spirits fill the air, welling emotions fill the being as an offering for what’s to come. And upon emerging, the listener is met by the beat of stomping feet as celebration ensues around this sacred body of water, calling upon the spirit of the dragon which resides in its magikal depths, to shower us with its blessings. Blessings of strength, courage and fervour to dance to the timeless song.

Nestled on the bank of Hartebeespoort dam, the Spirit Floor at EarthDance was a space buzzing with creation, connection and magic. Shamanic and contemporary healing arts teemed with life by day and conversations around crackling fires echoed into the distance by night. The stage hosted a wealth of workshops, acoustic and electronic music, offering a space to showcase raw and unique local talent. 

Storytelling through sound acts as a vehicle through which the observer can tap into something much greater than the self. This stage represents a blossoming vision to host conscious gatherings which allow for the whispers of the ancients and the eternal wisdom of nature to inspire us towards a positive and brighter future.

This set is intended to be a shamanic sound journey and holds the potential to pair significantly with the use of plant technologies.
