Q: Tell us a bit about your background. How long have you been DJ’ing and/or producing & what got you into it?
A: I started out with DJ’ing about 4 years ago and shortly after, I started messing around in Ableton as well. My icons at the time were Mr. Belt & Wezol. I remember they were a big part of my early clubbing days. After seeing them on 10+ shows at some point I just started to find all the knob twisting more and more interesting. The thought sparked: “What do they do exactly? What if I would be on the other side of that booth, wouldn’t that be fun?" And so the journey began.

Q: What genre(s) do you play and/or produce? Describe your sound.
A: It's never easy to nail down, but I mostly narrowed down to minimal deep tech house. Other than that I also try to draw from other new and old house subgenres to keep it interesting! For this mix I actually took a different sound than my core sound just to try something different.

The "modern minimal sound" I grew up with has a lot of faces. It started with easy & classy stuff by the likes of PIV which I still love to play at a warmup slot or a beach club. But I am also a big fan of the faster sound that is rapidly emerging through labels like Up The Stuss. And then there is a lot beyond and between that...

Q: When was your first attendance at the Open Deck Night & how was the experience?
A: It has been a year already! The edition of July 2023. My first attendance was to feel the vibe, and I absolutely loved it. The location of the Open Deck Night, Feed, has an unmatched atmosphere, a really authentic DJ booth and lovely staff. It's one of those places you fall in love with. I got a spot on the lineup of September 2023 and have been active in the collective ever since.

Q: What do you like most about the collective?
A: Connecting with your peer DJ’s and producers! I got to know quite some people through the collective that share the same passion: music. Some of them even happen to be in the same genre as well. We try to support each other's gigs or even go to a party here and there!

Q: Last but not least: what are you most proud of/excites you the most regarding your musical path?
A: The word is not officially out yet… but I am making my ADE debut this year! It’s one of those milestones that you are imagining from the very start and of course I’m super excited about it! No, honestly, can’t wait for it. Keep an eye on my socials, where I will be announcing more details soon!

Q: Tell us a bit about your background. How long have you been DJ’ing and/or producing & what got you into it?
A: I've been passionate about music since I was 15 years old, which is when I first started DJ'ing. However, I took a break from it around the age of 26 and only recently, about a year ago, picked it up again. Music has always been a significant part of my life because it gives me a sense of freedom and helps me relax. I love the idea of sharing this feeling with others through my music. My daily life involves working as a managing director of a software company and an IT manager for a retail and leisure specialist. Despite my busy schedule, music has always remained a vital outlet for my creativity and passion.

Q: What genre(s) do you play and/or produce?
A: As Dark Circles, I specialize in techno and electro. My sound is heavily influenced by the underground scene of the early '90s, with a particular nod to pioneers like Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, and Anthony Rother. My sets are known for their hypnotic, percussive, and harmonious elements, creating a unique and immersive experience for the audience. In my productions, I continue to explore these genres, focusing on creating melodic and captivating soundscapes without getting caught up too much in defined genres.

Q: When was your first attendance at the Open Deck Night & how was the experience?
A: My first attendance in December 2023 at an Open Deck Night was a pivotal moment in my recent return to DJ'ing. The experience was exhilarating; it reminded me of the joy and freedom I feel when I'm behind the decks. It was a great opportunity to connect with other artists and music lovers, and it reignited my passion for DJ-ing for a crowd.

Q: What do you like most about the collective?
A: What I appreciate most about the collective is the sense of community and shared passion for music. It's a space where artists can collaborate, share knowledge, and inspire each other, but most of all it's a place where like minded people help each other make progress in their careers as a DJ, trying to help each other move up from being a bedroom DJ to playing in a club. The collective aims to create a career ladder to help any DJ move forward in their individual paths, which is incredibly fulfilling. Being part of a group that values both individual expression and collective growth has been an enriching experience.

Q: Last but not least: what are you most proud of/excites you the most regarding your musical path?
A: I'm most proud of my ability to create a musical experience that resonates with the audience. It's incredibly exciting to see people connect with the music I play and produce. What excites me the most about my musical path is the journey of exploration and discovery. There's always something new to learn and experiment with, whether it's a new genre, technique, or collaboration. The continuous evolution of my sound and the opportunity to share it with others is what keeps me motivated and inspired.

Q: Tell us a bit about your background. How long have you been DJ’ing and/or producing & what got you into it?
A: So, I've been DJing for a year and producing for 9 months. I definitely still have a lot to learn in both of those areas, though. I got into it because I've been passionate about electronic music ever since I was a young teenager. When I was at parties I was always looking to see what DJs were doing behind the decks. I still do that, to be honest. I still just find it fascinating.

Q: What genre(s) do you play and/or produce?
A: I focus on melodic techno and peak-time techno. I also enjoy playing progressive house as well.

Q: When was your first attendance at the Open Deck Night & how was the experience?
A: My first Open Deck Night was In May 2024. I was nervous because I hadn't played any real venues at the time, but the Sonic Tonic crew that welcomed me really put me at ease. The vibe was chill and it was clear that it was a safe space to push your comfort zone as a DJ.

Q: What do you like most about the collective?
A: The like-mindedness in the people, for sure. It's a group of individuals who share an interest and passion for electronic music. The support that you get from members when you're trying to find your way as you learn is not something I've experienced before. There are people with varying levels of experience and everyone is keen to share what they've picked up along the way. We're all on a path to learn and enjoy the thing we all love: music.

Q: Last but not least: what are you most proud of/excites you the most regarding your musical path?
A: Might sound weird but just the fact that it doesn't matter where it's going. I'm here for the ride, and my focus is to enjoy this aspect of life as much as I can, and in the time that I can.

Q: Tell us a bit about your background. How long have you been DJ’ing and/or producing & what got you into it?
A: I started DJing shortly after the beginning of the first lockdown, so about 4 years. I'd always been interested in music and dance music, and a few friends from home DJ'd so that piqued my interest, but I'd never had the time. Suddenly I did so gave it a go and fell in love with it!

Q: What genre(s) do you play and/or produce?
A: A bit of everything haha, but mainly house, garage, breaks, and club

Q: When was your first attendance at the Open Deck Night & how was the experience?
A: I was at the first one! I knew Nikesh through a friend. It was one of my first times playing to the public so it was super stressful but also really fun! It's continually been a good motivator to keep practicing and getting comfortable playing in public.

Q: What do you like most about the collective?
A: The welcoming and supportive atmosphere. I was always a bit nervous about DJing and my songs and the support of the collective has really helped grow my confidence and my passion. It's really nice to have a group of fellow people that enjoy music together and support each other.

Q: Last but not least: what are you most proud of/excites you the most regarding your musical path?
A: I think playing on King's Day was the highlight of my DJing so far, playing for quite a big group of people and generally everyone really enjoyed it!! Going forward what excites me is the fact I feel like I'm finally honing in on my sound and how I want to DJ after seeing some inspiring sets this summer, so I'm looking forward to trying it out!

Q: Tell us a bit about your background. How long have you been DJ’ing and/or producing & what got you into it?
A: I’ve been DJing for 16 years now. It all started when I was 14 and got a small DJ set from my brother. I enjoyed it so much that I was basically mixing songs every day. 

When I was 18, I started producing deep house tracks together with my friend Strippd wich I still see often to make tracks. I’ve taken several production courses at Deep House Amsterdam to take my music productions to the next level.

Q: What genre(s) do you play and/or produce?
A: My style varies from 90s house/trance to modern-day trance, but when the moment calls for it, I can also dive into the minimal side. It really depends on the vibe of the evening.

Q: When was your first attendance at the Open Deck Night & how was the experience?
A: My first time at Sonic Tonic was quite a while ago. I happened to see on Instagram that there was an open night, so I went there with a friend. I immediately noticed that it’s a super open collective, and I was able to join the group chat right away to connect.

Q: What do you like most about the collective?
A: The collective is super open and wants to give everyone a chance to perform. Especially since it’s so difficult these days, I find this incredibly valuable.
