At the tender age of 15 years, Danny aka Dan. B, took his first steps in the world of electronic music and all its peculiarities. He started off by experimenting with his first MIDI controller, which was a simple Behringer BCD2000. This did not only define his first attempt at mixing, it also nourished his interest in and love for DJ’ing.

Dan.B’s talent and growing skills as a DJ pushed his career towards a new high by teaming up with the Basel label Farbe.Form.Musik., with whom he booked and played many events, clubs and festivals, such as Kater Blau in Berlin and the “Plötzlich am Meer” Festival in Poland.

At the beginning of 2019 Dan.B founded the new label Karussell, which is devoted to house and disco music. And although the label is still in its early stages of development, its WAX/vinyl label is already on the horizon.

Currently Dan.B is touring Europe, with appearances across Germany and Switzerland, and in places such as London, Stockholm and Madrid. When not on tour, Dan.B enjoys playing the local club scene of Basel, including his two residencies at Viertel and Sommerresidenz, and continuously working on his music, with new tracks already waiting.

Dan.B’s diverse style ranges across house and disco, up to luscious minimal vibes and tech-house music. His distinctive sound is full of groovy rhythms, concentrated with high hats and includes many unique vocal samples. Dan.B’s music is sure to get every single person moving and leave a sweet taste in your mouth and ears.

This sleek sound that Whitecat is distinguished by emerged upon his discovery of a new wave of minimalist sounds emerging from Romania and its European surrounds. Already armed with a technically immaculate skillset, Tim Reeves-Smith quickly became driven to cultivating this mesmerizing corner of electronic music in Australia’s sonic landscape. This passion has since manifested in Whitecat’s reputation as one of the city's—and the country's—most respected artists in the realm of minimal music.

Through co-founding local brand Mantra Collective, Whitecat has created opportunities to showcase both local and international talent – through regular parties, podcasts and label releases. Whether through his long standing former radio show at important local station FBi Radio, current radio show at community radio, Orbital-Radio, or his time spent slinging records at Something Else Record Store, Whitecat has humbly and diligently established himself as one of the most important contributing figures in Sydney’s music community. 

Aside from his regular schedule that sees him frequent lineups in Sydney and Melbourne, Whitecat has also played in Japan a handful of times, with appearances at respected clubbing institutions (like Dommune) both solo and under the Mantra Collective act.

Kino Tapes 051 - Cakkou - Music to get out of the Matrix...

Cakkou is a multi-disciplinary artist who draws her inspiration from her various travels and encounters. From painting to yoga, acrobatic aerial, and, of course, music, her main passion that occupies a major part of her life.

First drawn to the Parisian underground nightlife in 2016, she developed her love for electronic music in 2019 when she bought her first turntables and started mixing. At the end of 2020, she took part in the birth of Vénus Club, a collective promoting the development of female, non-binary and queer DJs and producers. Finally, in 2021, Cakkou decided to get serious about music production.

Her music oscillates between groovy bass lines and trancey atmospheres, between sampled vocals and jerky beats. The artists who inspire her most are Maraa, Reflex Blue and Roza Terenzi, as well as pioneers such as Laurent Garnier and Jeff Mills.

Introducing Aidan Knox - A DJ & Producer who grew up in the coastal town of Byron Bay, who continues to explore the depths of electronic music and push boundaries with his production.

The last few years has seen Aidan release on a variety of worldwide labels, whilst grabbing some lovely beatport chart positioning with his tracks. Now, 2023 has seen Aidan take a different route with his sound. Diving into a whole pool of different genres which he has always found very influential: everything from old school trance, progressive house, garage, breakbeat and jungle, which is very noticeable in this mix.

Aidan has implemented all these sounds into his forthcoming EP, which so happens to be the debut EP on his label - Bad Influence. With this new found taste that continues to keep listeners engaged, expect the unexpected with music affiliated with Aidan Knox.

Melbourne-born and bred, James Owen’s musical journey has been an eclectic one spanning two decades, starting at the age of 7. In 2014, James' productions transcended his studio as he began to share his productions as a DJ and since then, James has held highly respected residencies in various bars and clubs across Australia. His latest EP ‘Arabesque’, released on Conceptual Records, climbed to 34th position on the Beatport charts and helped him gain further recognition as a highly skilled artist on a global scale riding his own wave of sound. Through his deep passion and commitment to uncovering the unknown, James' sets and own productions venture deep into uncharted territories within the electronic music space, fusing together an exquisite blend of unfamiliar yet rhythmic & entrancing sounds.

Deivilon is the house and dance music project from David Araujo, originally from Canary Islands, Spain, and currently residing in Byron Bay, Australia. Deivilon has had the chance to play from all corners of the world from Europe, USA, Mexico, and Australia, making a sound for himself around house, tech house, minimal, and dabbling in disco.

As a purveyor of hedonism and party starting, Araujo has been known to be involved in events such as Organic Shit Festival and currently one half of Juicy Club Events in Byron Bay, showcasing sounds of different house artists from across the globe.

Timo Deeprhythms is a Helsinki-based DJ, label owner, podcast curator and producer. With a career spanning well over two decades he has developed an exquisite wide taste for all things electronic - a meticulous DJ capable of just about anything his sets range from sun kissed balearic sounds to cosmic house to wonky breaks, electro and hypnotic techno.

As an avid crate digger, he’s always looking for unearthed music to share, be it old and forgotten or new and emerging, Timo is the founder of Echocentric Records, co-runs the R.A.N.D. Muzik x Echocentric collaboration label and is the co-founder of Coymix All labels aim to promote contemporary electronic music without any genre boundaries, being natural extensions to his long running (est 2001) podcast series Deeprhythms.com.

As a highlight of 2024 you can catch Timo spinning again at the renowned Love International Festival in Tisno, Croatia.

Having arrived in Asia several years ago and setting up his home base in Hanoi, Vietnam. Tobes found his feet as a DJ, playing in clubs and events around the region, recently featuring at (Re)Treat, Likdo and Wonderfruit festivals.

Tobes is now focusing on performing live. Experimenting with sounds and sequences that are mixed and arranged on the fly, Tobes aims for each set to be both unique and spontaneous, whilst creating an immersive atmosphere to draw the audience in.

Most commonly found playing house, with various other sprinklings of UKG, 90’s breakbeat and harder hitting deeper grooves.

While many shades and versions of Sacre exist, Matthew (Sacre) has carved out a very unique angle through music. From the deep freezes of Edmonton, Canada - Sacre has lived in the lush gardens of Hanoi, Vietnam the last 8 years shaping the psychedelic revival of sonic & visual discovery in the Asia Pacific region. 

A curator and connector at heart, he’s developed a career crafting and thrusting unreal experiences into the minds of his surrounding scenes. Founding multiple festivals, events, spaces, and labels - to deliver multi hour sets ranging through unlocking an infinite groove that can transport through elements of house,psych, disco, jazz, bass, ambient, dub, and revealing a story through all kinds of outer-rim ecstatic body music. 

Aside from DJ’ing across multiple continents, curating diverse events from Canada, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, and Australia and melting the psychedelic music & art of his mind’s eye into the Vietnam jungle’s exotic dancefloor paradises - he’s been influencing the zeitgeist through outlets such as Outlandish Festival, Shanked Duke & Defused Mood Records, Geist Creative Club, Arch Cafe, and THX Fest, and keeping emerging talents on steady movement through Secret Guests & Geist Booking agencies. 

If DIY punk ethics, heavy psychedelic use, an experimental musical upbringing and underground electronic movements could co-exist - then undoubtedly his sets range in sounds much like his list of acts he’s shared stages with or collaborated will somehow make sense from playing alongside Curses, Shubostar & Que Sakamoto, to Jex Opolis and bands like Go It Alone, Thunder TIllman to New Age Doom, and performance art alongside Dao Anh Khanh, and Nguyen Thanh Duy.

With musical influences from the depths of Romanian minimal, as well as Detroit house and techno, Ary’s purist style is always recognised with groovy and uplifting sets. Occasionally and hard to predict, he loves sneaking in punchy breaks and dirty electro sounds during his sets, adding an extra layer of energy and dynamism to his performances.

Born and raised in Lombok Indonesia, Ary is the founder of The Bus Bar, the hub of house and techno in Lombok. He also founded Bluff, best known for throwing epic open-air parties. Bluff’s efforts expand beyond music into apparel and community events, organising development projects for the benefit of local youth.

Ezza is Gili Air (Indonesia) born and raised. The Gili based DJ who is making waves in the electronic music scene of South East Asia and Oceania, as well as far and wide, bringing renowned selectors to his parties on the small tropical island with The Hangovers crew, hosted at Lucky's Gili Air, a paradise music beachfront oasis.

With his vibrant sets, Ezza brings a new energy to the dance floor , seamlessly blending styles of house and techno to create unique captivating experiences across influences from Classic, Detroit, UK, Acid, and Euphoric elements.

RAKI established herself as a DJ and promoter in her hometown of Madrid. She has graced the decks at Coca Cola, Primavera Sound Radio and Rastro Live events before migrating to Australia in 2019.  Her eclectic style spans different music genres like Organic House, Jazz, Grooves, Italo Disco, Minimal House, DnB and Techno. 

She has graced a variety of stages across Australia, bringing her infectious energy and magic vibes to local crowds at clubs and festivals such as SASH, We Love, Camp Paprika, The Groove Society, Ravewave, Hidden Kollective, Subsonic, and Initiation Festival.

After spending the summer season playing as a resident Dj at Carnicero Ibiza she moved to Byron Bay in September 2023 and founded Rainbow DJ's. The community supports women in Electronic Music hosting Dj workshops where women are coming together to play, dance and learn from each other in a safe space.

Simon Felix is a German DJ based in Hanoi, blending acid, Detroit-influenced techno, electro, and Italo into hypnotic, floor-focused sets. His style is shaped by years in Bali’s hedonistic disco scene and Hanoi’s emerging underground, favoring subtle builds, crooked grooves, and warm, vinyl-informed textures.

Felix’s sets evoke a sense of nostalgia with a twist. Expect subtle turns, locked rhythms, and the odd dusty record when the moment calls for it.

Felix is also part of the team behind Outlandish Festival in Vietnam, a jungle weekender in northern Vietnam known for its off-grid setting, and genre-fluid curation.

Francisco Vecino, aka Slaag, is a Uruguayan born DJ based in Byron Bay, Australia. Starting his music career in 2012 in Montevido, Uruguay, Slaag quickly started to make a name for himself amongst the bubbling Uruguayan electronic underground.

His music fuses 70s + 80s funk/disco/soul with modern house and afro beats, showcasing a high presence of percussion and wind instruments throughout his sets. Slaag doesn't focus on one sound or genre, but makes a smooth and relatable connection between all of them from Jazz, Funk, Disco, Nu-Disco, Afro, and many more.
