For her second release on Northern Electronics, Vallmo (appellation of Melina Åkerman Kvie) strengthens her proficiency towards an electronic elevation with each and every track being a crevice offering kaleidoscopic gleams into a poetic narrative extracted from the slightly auto tuned yet softly metallic voice. What Virgil is to Dante, the piano is to the listener: a fragmented leitmotif and a guiding cicerone into the nimbus that is 'Othem'.
Dual in nature, the album comprises seamless transitions between divergent idioms, figuratively as well as literally. A false dichotomy conveying the opposing pairs tender and bold, distinct but evading and with a direction every so often forward as inward. 'Othem' is an opus in equal parts melancholy, magic and mimesis.

Swedish musician Moonilena has been a familiar face amidst underground circles for several years now having released poignant, emotive, sometimes dance focussed music on the likes of Belters and Studio Barmhus amongst others. In fact she actually recorded a mix for us previously.

However, around a month ago we were prompted to explore her new material by a good friend. Music which is removed from the club and explores the deeper, more pensive, fluid tendencies of her musical persona. Her new album ‘Minnet’ is forthcoming on Moloton and sees the Stockholm based audiology student focus more on the intricacies of sound design as she explores ambient textures across the LP.

So, this mix sits somewhere alongside that – an ode to the influences which have helped formulate a new musical perspective if you will.

Moonilena's latest release, the 'Tiny Portals' EP, earned acclaim from Resident Advisor and The Ransom Note, marking a bold venture into dream house. Now, with her debut album, this Stockholm-based audiology student, also known as Marlena Salonen, delves even deeper into uncharted territory. The album, a dark suite blending ambient, deathdream, and broken transmission, eschews conventional rhythm for layered harmony, synthesis, drone, and sound design. Inspired by FM synthesis and signal processing theory, Salonen explores the distortion of memory in a future archive, creating a soundtrack where humanity is deliberately lost in translation. The result is 'Minnet,' a sonic journey through vivid, lonely landscapes, evoking empathy for melancholy machines. Moonilena's experimentation extends beyond music, with site specific installations in abandoned industrial spaces and collaborations with artist Lap-See Lam at prestigious venues like Performa 19 Biennial in New York and Galerie Nordenhake in Stockholm.

Altaat is a Finnish duo by Niko Karlsson & Miki Brunou, that has been active since 2011. On this album they are playing with Jari Koho, who is known from his own solo projects, and also from Vapaa, Keijo & The Free Players, Aan, Uton etc. Their track "Palava palaava" was recorded in 2014 - and now finally released on Altaat's first vinyl release. 20 minute long improvised track, with bowed strings & droney synths, melting in a cosmic mind.

Euter is a mysterious duo, and these two tracks are from their
recordings from 2019-2020. Experimental psychedelic noise - droning, crackling and rumbling from various sound sources. Strange encounters with a charm & carefully composed.
