He passed away on 18.10.2020, and I had the honor of curating a bit of his musical journey in Ibiza, Spain.

Ich habe ihn als sensiblen, komplexen Künstler voller Gegensätze in Erinnerung und bin sehr dankbar mit Ihm zusammen ein Stück seines musikalischen Schaffensweges gegangen zu sein.

Wenn man Jose Ehren möchte macht man das am besten an seinem Lieblings Strand Aguas Blancas mit einem guten Glas Wein und spricht einem Toast aus auf sein großes musikalisches Vermächtnis.

We recently organised an intimate family gathering on the beautiful island of Hvar, Croatia. Daniel made a big impact with his thought provoking musical selections. As our next release comes from Daniel, and we loved hearing him mix, it was a no brainer for him to provide the next podcast. He's also answered a few questions below. Enjoy the set and have a read of what he had to say. 

1. Good morning Daniel!  Its exactly a week before your first release with us, Lost In a Dream. It has gorgeous tracks, please tell us about the EP and how it all came about? 

Hard to tell. One of the tracks is inspired by an amazing movie with some of the best music i’ve heard in a long time. But the others tracks are just made by an empty head, and hands that move on their own and create their own story. Track 4, ‘Suburban’ lies deepest in the heart since it is only one synth sound that moves and makes the whole track, played it in one take, which makes it even more special for me.


2. When we had the pleasure of meeting you recently, and playing music together, it was very apparent your a gifted DJ and an incredible selector. I'd love to know which choices you'd make for the following situations... 

Closing track at Dekmental:  
Would love it, but its not my cup of tea. If I could maybe close off with Prince - 1999

A Wedding (full of aunties, uncles and grandparents):  
Well I did a couple of those.  Totally would close with David bowie - Heroes!

Waking up and getting out of bed: 
Radiohead - Separator

Your in a spaceship with all your friends about to land on the moon: 
Cubicolor - Got This Feeling or Nils Frahm - La.


3. Of course we have to ask you about this Podcast, you finished with one of our all time favourite tracks and snuck a few of your own productions in it. Tell us more!! What have you included and why?

Pure inspiration of meeting the fam and being on Hvar. The podcast is filled with lots of dynamic tracks with one really special track of one of my best friends Navar, his track Legacy is coming out on Edge with a slick remix of Guy J. I also got lots of deep inspiration from an old track of Young Marco and some amazing stuff made by Four Tet and lots of my own stuff including the new EP Lost in a Dream which will be released next week, and some secret tracks which will be released later on!


4. What has been your best ever gig? And what has been your worst (sorry) ? 

Best, Playing before and after a great hero of mine Hernan Cattaneo. 
Worst, I once did a gig, got everyone on the dance floor and i was playing on Traktor that moment, 4 decks, got the groove going. Then the laptop crashed, i turned to the pioneers and the first track i saw was David August - Epikur which was totally out of my groove, i screwed up like 2/3 tracks after that but then i made up for it a bit i hope. 


Willy this really sucks for you. My spelling is shitty and everything else is shitty too. But the answers are how i feel atm, tomorrow could be totally different. Have a good one <3

It was such a pleasure to play to a sold out epic venue like the Steelyard in London, UK, surrounded by so many beautiful people in their 1920s-adorned dancing selves. Alex & Sinead - you are brilliant at what you do and I can't thank you enough for inviting me to be a part of this incredible production alongside the lovely Tizy Melo, Lorraine, & @blancah. I had so much fun diving in to a fiercer techno-infused side of myself and am super excited to share it with you all!
