Today, 22nd. August 2025, marks 13 years since our dear brother Bri succumbed to the deadly combination of leukaemia and Guillain-Barré syndrome.  Watching him through 2012, unable to do anything for himself and increasingly confined to a hospital bed is something none who loved him will ever forget.  
He has never been (and never will be) forgotten, not only for the music he created but for the force of nature he most certainly was.  In 1964, our Mum & Dad bought him an entry level acoustic guitar as a Christmas present and his progress on the instrument was something to behold.  By the time he was 18, he’d bought himself a Gibson Les Paul on HP (24 payments of five pounds and thirteen shillings per month) from Selmers in Charing Cross Road, London.  He joined a band, somehow co-opting me in as lead singer at the tender age of 15 (still a schoolboy, no less) and over the ensuing ten years, formed bands of whose line-up I was always a part, graduating from singing to percussion and eventually drums.
There being guitars laying around the family home, Tel took to playing and encouraged by Bri, never stopped.  Fast forward another five years and he too started writing songs so that by ’82, the 3 of us decided to form a band (Root Division) to play them.  It’s a truly special thing to be in the same band as your brothers and recording those songs became something Tel and me still remember with an abiding nostalgia.  No wonder we still talk about those days…
This song started life as an instrumental, written by Hans and of course, it’s brilliant as is but Tel liked it so much, he asked if he could write some lyrics and a vocal melody.  Being a generous fellow, our dear friend from Hamburg said he’d love to hear what Tel had in mind.
His basic idea was to incorporate as many references as he could to Cripple Club tracks, in celebration of the firm friendship we have formed in together recording what amounts to over 50 songs.  There may be a few of you who can spot one or two…
So this is for you, Bri.  We love and miss you, sweet brother.

Not everyone is on holiday, even in the heat of summer. Some still work while the city falls silent, stretched under a long, empty day. I can’t tell if the man expects something to happen; to me, it feels like nothing will happen today either. Anyway, everything's good.

This is the third in a series of eight easy, acoustic, rather short, and deliberately inconclusive tracks, assembled by combining new ideas with reworked older material, adding parts and sounds along the way.

Bright Eyes  ft. CHIARA

After two months in the Florida Keys for the better part of the Winter I took my usual Amtrak ride up the coast. It went from Summer to Winter at daybreak. Sobering and sad to see the death of winter in the blink of an eye. When I went into my house I put my bags down and sat at the piano. Although I have a piano in Florida it is starting to break down and I can't upload music. All I wanted to do was play my piano to express how I felt. No warm up. Just play. I hit the record button and this is what came out. My music is an extension of what is in my head which better describes me than words could ever do. It is all I have to leave behind. It is the only thing about me that gets better with age, and I would never trade that if it is a benefit of life's experiences. The photo is me in 1977 age 23

Who Am I Without My Music?

This photograph is my great-grandmother, born in 1890. she lived in our home my entire childhood up to age 14 in 1968 when she died of a bad heart. I have spent so many hours staring at her baby pictures while imagining her life. She became a stunning woman and gradually became the Nana I knew. We go through so many physical changes in our lives but we feel like we are the same person inside. She lost three babies, each at age six months to SIDS - Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.  Such heartache she went through. She loved each of them for six months and woke up one morning to their unexplained death. I never knew until I was grown. Eventually, most people became only a name on the back of a photograph. Since everything now is digital we are losing even that to pass on. I have my great grandmother's original baby pictures. My family today is unaware of these photographs. At one time I tried to create interest in family but I failed.  So it is up to me to remember. She was such a beautiful baby. My love to you Edith May Brown Ferden. I dedicate this music to you.

My music pieces are all piano improvisations expressing emotions. It is music telling stories without the words. In my earIy years I sang and played piano in piano bars or fronted bands of different styles, from country to heavy metal and to 40. I've been composing, teaching and performing most of my life.  I'm getting old(er) now 😔 but the great thing about creating music is it gets better the longer you play, and you have more to write about! 

This is what I leave of me to my generations to come who wonder where their desire to make music comes from. My mother, grandmother and great grandmother were both accomplished pianists when they were young. My son is also exceptional.  My great grandmother and gr grandfather sang and danced in minstrel shows (vaudeville) in the early 1900's. Kids today have no idea what life was like before moving pictures.  I now have great-grandchildren. They will know who I am through my music. When I am gone my music will still be here. What a wonderful thought! 

Wow, hadn't realised what a journey SoundCloud would take me on.  After many years of passive listening to music I've dieted on a variety of tastes. My appetite for new sounds is undiminished and SC provides plenty of food. I am not a musician and have only recently started to listen positively to the sounds. My early years began listening to music from ABC, The Beatles, The Carpenters Dire Straits Eagles Fleetwood Mac Genesis Elton John Led Zeppelin Gilbert O'Sullivan Rod Stewart Supertramp Tangerine Dream Vangelis The Who and many more.
If you can't spot a trend in my current likes it may be because it is diverse. I love listening to all my playlists which contain tracks that I like and if you like any of the music you must thank the artists not me.
