Active as a DJ since 2009, Samuele Pagliai boasts a ten-year experience as resident of the Florentine party @lattexplus where he plays alongside the best international artists. A devoted music digger, his appetite for new sounds has no bounds, and his taste constantly evolves. Deep house, soulful, dub, funk and techno are just a few of the genres you can hear during his sets. With this same approach, in 2017, he founded Angis Music, an independent record label dedicated to the publication of music produced by emerging and established artists from all over the world. In addition to overseeing the label’s A&R, he organizes events and exclusive listening sessions throughout Italy to create intimate spaces for the exchange of music and culture. Over the years, he has been invited to play some of the most prestigious clubs on the peninsula, such as Dude Club, Bunker, Link, Magick Bar, and Vicious, while at the same time building his experience abroad by playing in Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Spain and Germany. Moreover, he has participated in radio shows such as Hessle Audio on Rinse FM, State Of Rhythm on Worldwide FM, NTS, and Universal Rhythms Radio, where he curates his own program and continues to gain recognition in the European scene.

LÉMAN MIX 08 - SAMUELE PAGLIAI

Melanie Charles recruited LA & NY's finest musicians: Donald Barrett, drums; Chris Cadenhead Piano; Brandon Eugene Owens bass; Dave Sampson guitar; Bendji Allonce percussion; and Chris Sorem, engineer and founder of @ Nest Recorders LA for a 6 hour recording session to submit a 5 song audition tape to the prestigious Thelonious Monk Vocal competition 2015. After receiving an unexpected and shocking rejection letter, Melanie decided to flip the loss into an opportunity to share what was submitted to the competition on the exact day the competition is set to happen. This disappointment led Charles to embark on a mission to reclaim and re-position JAZZ. Making it a “life form” for those who are creating art independently from the “corporate jazz museum”.

Damaballa Wedo is a Haitian Voodoo Folk song from the point of view of Damballa and Ayida the two medicinal "Loa" or 'Gods". The songs says that if you do not celebrate these Gods faithfully, when you decide to return, you will cry. Charles interpretation is inspired by an arrangement by guitarist Eddy Bourjolly. This basic mix perfectly displays Melanie’s natural, authentic Jazz aesthetic, mixed in with her edgy Brooklyn personality utilizing her Haitian culture to tie it all together.

Damballa Wedo (extended)

The uninterupted 6th visit to The House of CJLO with an hour an 15 minutes of house followed by a 30 minute musical journey from Chicago producer, Zavala. The mix was featured on THUMP on Friday night launching his new mix series project, REM. He said the series is "sequenced and set in a manner of random order, varied intensities and formats, much like a REM sleep experience." Hot Butter

A child of the wind. Sonny Daze, started a journey in music with his mothers record collection on the south side of Chicago. Born with a thirst for music of both past and present, Sonny's palate for music grew from the gritty street corners of Chicago, his grandparents southern roots and the late night rides in his uncle Paris's Cadillac.   This developed his understanding that music is a healing and unifying force that influences the world. 
Naturally Sonny was drawn to play music. As a child he'd place a speaker in the window of his grandparents house on the second floor and yell the name of each song through a fan. Songs from the likes of Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, De La Soul, Rakim and many more. Being in Chicago as a Child the sounds of House music gave Sonny a unique experience.  "Growing up and sitting in my uncle's car or my mothers I thought that everything was about music. They'd just hop in the car to cruise to music."  As for house music effects on his music taste, "I just felt like all the music of that time in the mid 80's had been molded together and it was taking people on a new journey, something that just made you forget about the really bad times".  
Since 2000 Sonny has been spinning records to take people on a journey. "When I DJ I think of my uncle and his Caddy and cruising and letting the party's I play at become my home, my scene!"
Sonny's been on a journey playing with some of the best in the world and building a name for himself with Dj sets alongside legends like Andre Hachett, Rich Medina, Osunlade, ?uest-love, Gillies Peterson, and Afrika Bambaattaa to name a few. 

Sonny continues to grow is a producer and musician, with a focus on bring the "medicine" to his audience. "The world is filled with negative thoughts and behavior.  When I work my intend is to remove people from that for a few moments. So they consider taking other journey's”.
