Lorenzo Fasano - A Love Letter to my Agony (Remixes) [ALH012]

I did say that now that I completed the "one brand new track, every single day for a year" challenge that I might post more than one song on a given day and I might post songs that have either been posted elsewhere or they had been posted in a different form or format.  

For those of you who have been following this Interbay music project for that first year through now, you may have noticed that the counts of tracks I occasionally drop aren't always matching what SoundCloud tells you they should be.  That's because the track I posted on the second day (after posting "Cruncher" on the first day I posted a completed track here on SoundCloud--May 16, 2024), which was titled "Penultimate" isn't found in the Interbay back catalog here.  

That's because I pulled it down.  Because it wasn't any good.  (Yes, I do have standards.  Not terribly high standards, but they do exist.)    

The track was called "Penultimate" because the first 100 tracks had a conceit that all song titles would only be one word long AND because it was the second to last track I made at the original Phantom Laboratories West (the last track produced there, titled "Stock"--because my kid dared me to do a track with only stock plugins--still hasn't seen the light of day, and might stay in The Vault forever...if anything, it was somehow worse than "Penultimate".)  

I hadn't planned anything specific for posting here on SoundCloud yet--posting every day, one word titles, all tracks must include vocal elements, putting emphasis on simplicity and song structure--none of that were written in stone yet.  I was just as likely to be posting half-baked garbage that should remain as demo recordings for future ACTUAL songs.  

...and that's what "Penultimate" was.  

The most galling thing to me was that I'd used a classic Film Noir movie snippet...and it didn't fit the music...and I didn't do anything with it.  I just dropped it on the track and called it done.  Rip it and ship it.  

...and the day after I posted it, I regretted it...so, I took it down.  

I HAD posted it, so it counts as the track I posted on that day...even if you couldn't find it in the back catalog.  (Originally, I'd used this page to share my attempts in Eliminate's Audio Combat--one of which is still posted here, so it was less obvious that there was a track missing.)  

I have now retooled the song.  I chose a different snippet.  I did more with the structure, added more interesting melody lines and other arrangement changes...and now, I re-present the song that was "Penultimate" but is now "Penultimate Chase."  A better track and worthy of returning to the back catalog...and still different enough to count as a SoundCloud Exclusive.  

(After you listen to this, go and listen to today's earlier posted track "Northamerican Stomp".  It's a bit odd--but it deserves a listen, too!)
