There’s something unpredictable about Pralaya. One moment she’s behind a piano chasing chord progressions that could score a love scene, and the next she’s twisting those same harmonies into syncopated 160 bass chaos. Based in Saint Petersburg, this classically trained musician fell down the rabbit hole of footwork — and instead of keeping it academic, she got her hands dirty, producing, sampling, and even trying out the moves herself (turns out it’s way harder than it looks).
Her EP Are You Ready? marks the first digital release on Sonora Destroy Records, and it couldn’t be a better way to start. The project feels like a love letter to rhythm itself — soulful, funky, and unpredictable in all the right ways. Some tracks carry that hip-hop swagger, flashes of attitude that nod to her love for the genre, while others lean into R&B warmth and Chicago grit with Northern cold vibes.

from a country caught between internal and international tension. For many musicians, politics,
censorship, and global isolation can quietly shape the sound of their lives. Yet music keeps finding
a way through.

Are You Ready? by Pralaya arrives as the first digital release on Sonora Destroy Records — a label
built on the idea that art should move freely, even when the world around it doesn’t.
Hailing from Saint Petersburg, this classically trained pianist turned rhythm sculptor channels
footwork’s raw pulse into something soulful, funky, and hip hop flavored. It’s music that makes
movement inevitable — experimental, emotional, and unpredictable — rooted in the Chicago tradition
but reimagined through her own voice.

The EP glides through 160 BPM territory with vocal chops, soulful layers, and basslines that swing
like they were born in a smoky Chicago basement and raised on Russian snow. Demonstrating how
the Footwork genre has become a globetrotting sound.
The legacy of footwork — born from Chicago’s streets and basements — has always been about
breaking barriers. What started as a local dance movement has evolved into a global language,
reinterpreted by producers from every corner of the world. Today, it stands as one of the most
daring and forward-thinking forces in contemporary electronic music — proof that rhythm travels
faster than borders ever could.
