Sonospheria is a group of researchers and artists who are working in the fields of acoustic ecology and bioacoustics. Started in Istanbul / TURKEY - 2015

Sonospheria is organized by Istanbul Bilgi University Music Department students and academic staff. After a call from research assistant Can Kazaz, a group of academicians and students formed and named Sonospheria. Active members of Sonospheria are: Asst. Prof. Tolga Özdemir, R.A. Ateş Erkoç, Can Bora Genç, Hazal Döleneken, Eda Er, Ege Selçuk, Kumsal Delibalta and R.A. Can Kazaz.

However, we strongly underline that Sonospheria is NOT closed to people or organisations besides Istanbul Bilgi University. Yet we are a small group of researchers and artists, we are open to collaboration with anybody who intends to start a project in Turkey. We currently work on two main projects. We will update our followers as frequently as possible.

Sonospheria, "sono" (ses) ve "spheria" (elektron-küreler) kelimelerinin yanyana gelmesiyle türetilmiş bir isimdir. Sonospheria, Dünya'yı ekosistemlerden meydana gelen bütüncül bir ses küresi olarak ele alır ve çalışmalarını bu bakış açısıyla sürdürür. Akustik ekoloji ve biyoakustik alanlarında çalışmalar yapan bir oluşumdur. Müzik başta olmak üzere; akademik, bilimsel ve sanatsal bir çok alana, disiplinlerarası çalışmalar yaparak katkıda bulunmayı hedefler.

Sonospheria, Nisan 2015'te İstanbul-Türkiye'de çalışmalarının temellerini atmıştır.
