PSALM 28 A Prayer for Help

Unto You Oh Lord I call
Oh my Rock do not be silent
To You Oh Lord I call
Oh my Rock dont hide your ear from me

If you are silent,
I will become like 
those who make their way down to the pit
Hear the voice of my supplication 
When I cry to You for help
When I raise my hands to heaven
toward your sanctuary

Keep me from falling
into the path 
of those intent to scheme iniquity
They give no thought to 
nor have regard for 
the works the Lord created from the start
Speaking words of peace unto their neighbour
but storing mischief in thier hearts

Idea based on the message of Hosea. "They ploughed wickedness and judgement sprung up as hemlock in the furrows of thier fields" (Hosea 10:4)

HEMLOCK IN THE FURROWS

Put the trumpet to your lips
Its time to raise the alarm
The eagle's soaring high above
Its the calm before the storm
Every idol that you carved
Lies scattered on the ground
When you were young you sowed the breeze
Now reap the whirlwind!

Hemlock in the furrows

Asaph was the first and chief musician in the early days before the temple was built in Jerusalem. By all accounts (1Chron 16v5) he was a percussionist and drummer and together with Heman and Jeduthun formed the first worship band to accompany the choir in praise and worship of God He wrote a number of psalm lyrics under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. His lyrics are very down to earth and he likes to say things exactly as they are! 'Descendants of Asaph' follow in his tradition and is a virtual band dedicated to making music and song unto the Lord and presenting His challenge to the world today through parables in music.
