Dutch duo Capron make their Nothing Else Matters debut with the Downstairs EP, a sharp, groove-led package that showcases their signature blend of minimal house, tribal textures and funky, underground energy. 

Already turning heads with releases on Hush, Too Many Rules and Sweatz Records, the Amsterdam pair continue their rise with their most refined work to date. Formed by Sil and Yazmani - one a keys player with deep musical roots, the other a long-time bassist and dedicated digger - Capron combine musicianship with a modern club sensibility. Their sound pulls heavily from ‘90s house, using tight percussion, rolling basslines and occasional standout vocals to inject bounce, colour and attitude. 

With the Downstairs EP, Capron deliver a confident, dancefloor-focused statement that fits seamlessly into NEM’s forward-facing House catalogue. A duo firmly on the come-up.

-How long have you been creating music?
I've been doing music a long time ago, I have a stock music portfolio, I also worked on my previous project "Fapples" project, so yes, I started it a long time ago.

-What do you use to make your tracks?
Sony Sound Forge, FL.

-How and when did you first discover Dirtybird?
Oh, let me remember... it was a long time ago, since the days of Who's Afraid of Detroit. CVS did a legendary thing, I remember we played a million times remix from Stanton Warriors.

-Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most?
Of course with Claude Von Stroke, Fisher (OZ), Justin Martin & I think with Steve Darko, youngster is really talented.

-If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you?
Funny question, but... "LOTR: time to Shapa Luck" sounds cool, just imagine the picture, woah!

-What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
Limp Bizkit, yeah, definitely. That was awesome.

-If you could time travel, where and when would you go?
London, going to Emirates Stadium, i'am a big fan of Arsenal (more then 15 years)

-What species of bird best describes you and why?
Phah, cock. Why not? wake uuuuup, morning.

-What does Dirtybird mean to you?
Shows me a new world of music, without rules, luv it.

Sonya Alvarez has been making a name for herself in her hometown of Detroit, MI. Alvarez uses techy house beats spun and cut in a hip-hop fashion to create a melodic, bouncy and exciting story for her audience to engage with. Her sound ranges when appropriate and includes genres like deep house, tech-house, bass-house, break-beats, & techno. She tests the crowd limits and challenges them to be as physically involved as she is, drawing attention to important builds and drops, and inspires the crowd with a good amount of footwork on her own. Sonya also has been known to play a fair bit of rap & hip-hop in her DJ sets.

Starting her journey in 2016, she has made her mark as an event curator / promoter and has focused on building up others in her community.
Sonya's skills are on par to have already shared the stage with some of her favorites including Shiba San, Boys Noize, Chris Lake, Pete Tong, MK, Destructo, Kill Frenzy, AC Slater, Roger Sanchez, Anna Lunoe, & Maala.

“A people’s DJ and a DJ’s DJ”, Sonya has traveled to places like New York, Philly, Chicago, Florida, Colorado, Canada, and other places in the midwest bringing her style right around to capture the hearts of friends and fans alike.

Sonya has lately started her own record label, Korner Kombo Records, with a bi-weekly mix series, live-streams, & productions.

Anyone who has seen Sonya spin live will tell you, she’s not messin’ around and she’s in it for the long haul.
