Playdate New York's Terron Darby has been an incredible force behind the scenes, in the studio, and on the decks for nearly two decades. Darby has designed professional high end studios for an esteemed list of performers and organizations that include everything from Moby to Vice Media, HBO, and NASA among others. He is also one of the original Avid instructors for their education department and has also taught aspiring musicians of all flavors at Full Sail University. It's special to have someone who has contributed so much to the growth of other eager musicians take the reign themselves. Currently, Darby has set in motion a mysterious new vinyl imprint that's a unique ode to the relationship between music and art. This label will reflect how layer after layer, Darby's music constructs a warm, intelligent vibe filled with rich-brimming strings and beautiful swelling bass lines that articulate what creating and spinning deeper shades of house music is all about. SoundPark is happy to welcome back Terron Darby as he returns for his sophomore take.

I produced a Public Service Announcement intro track in preparation for my DJ set at House of Yes' sexy party: House Of Love. Every time I DJ and hear my friends complain about how grabby, pushy or disrespectful people were I wish I could have a track, in the form of a friendly and funny public service announcement to remind people (and hopefully educate many) about how to interact, engage and party in an appropriate and respectful way.

So here is the first one of the series. I will be releasing another version without the New York City Department of Dance Floor Safety part but instead simply Dance Floor Safety department so that people outside of NYC and beyond could use it. 

The hope is that promoters, DJ’s, nightclubs and anyone involved in nightlife could use this and play it at any moment to start to change people’s attitude and foster a better party environment.

And since I know how terrifying it could be to mix out of something like this, I made sure to include a smooth mix-out reverb with the longest of mother tails so that you can drop that beat right away and get the party started. Produced with love and consideration for all the DJ’s who have the desire to do things right but may worry about how to get back into the groove. ;)

"This is a message from the New York City Office of Dance Floor Safety, which has issued new guidelines for interacting with people in the club. Ladies and gentlemen, a crowded dance floor is no excuse for unwanted sexual contact. 

Remember, some people are here tonight just to dance and talk, even if they have the sexiest of sexy outfits on.

Always ask before you touch, and get an enthusiastic yes or head nod and smile before continuing. If you need to get someone's attention and the music is loud, tapping them on the shoulder or arm is appropriate.

And if you feel unsafe or violated, please report it to a security officer. Stay alert, and have a safe and sexy night."

Analog Corona <Time Out>

DJ, producer, multi-instrumentalist – Johannes Klingebiel is all of these things. Being a professionally trained jazz drummer and pianist certainly helps for these activities in the same way as it’s occasionally useful to just throw all of this knowledge overboard for the sake of some stone-cold drum machine workouts. It can be both.

This unbiased approach has led Johannes to release all kinds of electronic-based music on labels like Beats In Space, Mule Musiq, Mireia, Feines Tier or his own imprint Ancient Future Now, as well as touring the globe as a drummer in bands like indie outfit Vimes or his own group, the hard-to-define Kraut-Jazz-something band C.A.R.

As a DJ Johannes unifies these various musical backgrounds in his eclectic, but never arbitrary playing style. Whether he’s playing deep disco cuts or modern House bangers, slow Techno sneakers or Krauty trip music, the lowest common denominator of his DJ sets will always be his unique sense and love of groove that magically glues everything together. In 2019 he released new solo EPs on Mireia and New York powerhouse Beats In Space by Tim Sweeney, on whose legendary radio show he also played a DJ set.

2019 brought their debut original EP on Ancient Future Now including a beautiful remix by the one and only Ada. Along with a string of EPs on Feines Tier, Clap Trap and others, 2020 will bring his debut solo album on his own label Ancient Future Now.

Speaking of Ancient Future Now, Johannes runs the label together with his buddy Jonathan Haehn, with whom he also forms the mystical DJ duo Alma & Mater. Besides churning out some original tunes here and there, they made their mark by putting out some edits that really hit the scene, first and foremost an Underworld edit, which was and is played by everyone from Âme over Axel Boman and John Talabot to Gerd Janson (he even called it one of his favourite closing tracks).
