Silencia is the latest collection of evocative and lustrous compositions by the Nashville duo Hammock. The band’s 10th LP, Silencia closes a trilogy that began with 2017’s Mysterium. It is a balm, gesturing at the healing that can ascend in silence. Slow-churning and contemplative, Silencia most prominently features strings orchestrated by Viktor Orri Árnason (Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds), mists of guitar by Hammock’s Marc Byrd and Andrew Thompson, the hushed drone of horns, and 20 elegiac voices from the Budapest Art Choir. The record was mixed and mastered by Francesco Donadello (Winged Victory for the Sullen, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Ben Frost) in Berlin. ‘’Wild Sea” offers a mesmerising and, now signature, cinematic experience with calming organ notes and sublime strings. “Ville Noire” continues a brooding and delicate theme that spawned in Chapter 1 through the intricate ‘’Murron”. The track is brings a vibrant, textured atmosphere to the fore with soothing brass coating the surface.

Closing out the release is the thoughtful and uplifting “Happy Then Sad Again”, which combines soft, delicate guitar plucks and wavering synth sounds over an organic beat.

LichtStern is a part time globetrotter dreamer, light and music lover. He has prepared mesmerizing sound journeys across a range of electronic music for some time. The Lyon French native employs effectively majestic melodies and deep basses that go from the outside in. His style roots influence goes back to mid-90s with tech pioneers Laurent Garnier, Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, Manu le Malin, Sven Väth and later on with deep and inspiring trip hop vibes from artists such as massive attack, Portishead, thievery corporation and others alike. Today his sound finds much inspiration in these roots together with the latest notes dropped on Azur beaches from Tel Aviv all the way up to shores of the Berliner Spree: deep, melodic, oriental, happy or dark with a notch of hard when needed, but always vibrating and guided with the beauty of lights, winds and souls coming together to lift up on the dancefloors. His stunning musical narratives have been vibrating across Paris, Berlin, Zurich, Luzern, Ibiza and Cabarete.
