This song is conjunct in the verses, as it has a limited range to maintain a certain mood. In the choruses, the melody becomes disjunct as the range broadens and moves down the scale. To emphasize the rhythm in between the first chorus and second verse, the beat and guitar skip the one beat. This happens again in the instrumental at the end before moving into double time. Additionally, in the choruses, the chords move from C to Cm, which is not traditionally in the key that the song is in. This offers diversity for the listener and keeps them on their toes.
