WHEN Angelika Taschen gave a 40th-birthday party here for her husband, Benedikt, the artists Jeff Koons, Ed Ruscha and Mike Kelley attended, and so did the photographers Julius Shulman and Helmut Newton. Entertainment included mariachi singers and the presentation of an giant cake baked in the shape of Chemosphere, their stunning futuristic residence designed by John Lautner in 1960.
