안녕하세요. 저는 일본출신 레게셀렉타 신지입니다. 한국에서 레게셀렉타 활동을 한지는 15년 정도 되었습니다. 한국에 온지 15년 되었으니까 레게셀렉타 활동을 오자마자 시작했었네요:)


2. 슬로스와의 인연을 간단히 말씀해 주세요.


DJ 친구가 슬로스에서 디제잉을 하는 것을 보고 처음 알게 되었습니다.
부평에 이렇게 멋진 곳이 있는 것에 놀랐습니다.
그리고 마침 제가 가장 좋아하는 동물이 나무늘보인데, 너무나 친근한 느낌이 들었습니다.
그런 슬로스에서 디제잉해보고 싶은 마음에 슬로스에 연락을 드렸고, 그렇게 슬로스와의 인연이 시작되었습니다.


3. 자신의 음악스타일을 표현하자면

저의 디제잉은 레게가 중심이며, 슬로스에서는 주로 lovers rock, rocksteady 같은 멜로우하고 부드러운 음악을 위주로 선곡하고 있습니다. 사람들에게 레게 중에서도 편하고 낭만있는 음악의 장르도 있다는 것을 알리려고 하고 있습니다.

4. 슬로스의 나무늘보들을 위한 믹스셋 시리즈에 담으려 한 느낌이나 의도는 무엇일까요?

나무늘보처럼 느리고 천천히 가는 느낌을 전달하고 싶었습니다.
이 믹스를 들으며 잠시 바쁜 생활에서 느린 여유를 느껴보셨으면 하는 마음에서 선곡해보았습니다.

Forever is the first song off of the planned future release, "Pastel" by Sam Ock. It is a mellow, jazzy farewell letter from the one who remains moving in the present, to the moment or person past. It is inspired as Ock’s farewell letter to his hip-hop collective AMP, and a deep introspection of his identity apart from the era that is now saved for his memories. This song is for anyone who has gone through the existential crisis inherent to deep loss.

Pastel is a collection of songs in late 2018 by hip-hop/jazz songwriter Sam Ock. The project is a canvas that displays the soft, subtle and light hues which veil a sensitive, pain-ridden soul searching for solace. The gentle, jazz-laced chords and crooning vocals display an idyllic scene while Ock’s honest and direct lyrics lace the work with a sense of deep longing. Pastel is catharsis for the hurting and searching listener.
