Sotones is pleased to announce the release of ‘SOTONES10’, an all-new compilation to celebrate their 10th anniversary and 85th release on Friday 3rd November.

‘SOTONES10’ (STLP085) is a double-length compilation of entirely new tracks recorded by current and former Sotones artists including Band of Skulls, Moulettes, Anja McCloskey, Fred Kinbom and Dave Miatt (Thomas Tantrum). 

Founded in 2007 in the industrial port of Southampton, Sotones Music Co-operative (which owns Sotones Records and Sotones Music Publishing) have managed to survive and thrive in their first decade, against difficult economic headwinds and in the shifting sands of a rapidly-changing music industry. Over that time Sotones have released 85 records in all formats, worldwide, to national and international acclaim; while Sotones artists have performed thousands of live shows across the world, from living-room shows to major national tours and festivals with audiences in their thousands.

As well as releasing music by established artists, Sotones have nurtured young emerging local talent, with releases by more than 40 named artists and showcasing hundreds more at their live events across the South of England.

In a time of musical and social uncertainty, Sotones’ example and message of co-operation and optimism shine like a lighthouse across the gloom.

About Sotones Music Co-operative

Sotones Music Co-operative is a an independent record label from the UK based in Southampton and distributed by State51 (digital, RoW) and Republic Of Music (physical). Comprising a record label (Sotones Records, AIM member) and publishing arm (Sotones Music Publishing: PRS/MCPS), Sotones is a rarity amongst UK music groups in that is is co-operatively (jointly) owned and operated by its members, the artists, engineers and producers it comprises.

Beginning in 2005 as a series of successful clubnights in Southampton, Sotones incorporated as a record label in 2007 and has released 85 works by over 40 artists since, with tours across the UK, continental Europe and North America. Sotones artists have collected accolades and airplay from major outlets including BBC Radio 1, 6Music, Q Magazine, The Quietus, The Fly and have recently expanded their base into Germany.
