In our 40th digital release we present Gazdaru Claudiu Cristian also known as Dubphone - a member of the second wave of music producers from Bucharest, Romania. Currently based in Valencia (Spain), he is busy working on several projects. In the early years he got the chance to play piano and quickly fell in love with music. In the following years his music knowledge and skills brought him to an extreme connection with the electronic style. Encouraged from that, he has already released on labels such as Monique Musique, Inmotion Music, Kosmophono, Sleep is Commercial and Baile Musik. Dubphone drops an EP for Alboratory with two original tracks and two remixes by Dimitri Monev & Dan Noël. "Alfama" has an urban feeling atmosphere with smooth bass line, background fx and children vocal samples that make that track really captivating. In addition to that Dimitri Monev delivers his own interpretation as he keeps some original parts but changes the background atmosphere by his own taste. Low hertz bass line accompanied with well balanced hi-hat section, industrial fragments and creepy synth floating all over the arrangement. The second one is named "Kuala" and sounds really promising with the low hertz filled background and driving bass line which sounds just like vacuum - all surrounded by the reverb elements and echo voices which provide depth to the rhythm of the track. The "Kuala" remix of Dan Noël also contributes to the release due to Dan's own expression and interpretation of the original which makes the track a dance floor bomb!

The next release on Light my Fire comes courtesy of Zurich’s Fat Sushi, who recently impressed with their ‘My Place’ EP on Off Recordings. On ‘Hypnotic’ the duo presents three resourceful club tracks consisting of elastic bass lines, epic breaks and a good pinch of humour to keep it fresh.

‘Problems’ is crafted for the peak time: areal synths chase over a plump bed of bass, elevated by a looped guitar riff and sweet vocal hooks. Next, ‘Hypnotic’ sways through the night, lighting up the dance floor with feel-good vibes. Stefan Mint, who has previously release on Groove On, takes the track’s title quite literal and delivers a hypnotic tech house remix made for the wee hours. Great stuff! Lastly, we are treated to a healthy portion of 80s power, as ‘What You Need’ combines retro synths with modern house sounds.

The latest addition to the Steyoyoke roster is Brazilian bombshell BLANCAh. Her vocals already feature on some of the labels releases, but 'Who's That' pushes BLANCAh even more forward into the limelight and moves her up to sit at the producers table. It's her debut EP for Steyoyoke and, with no exception, it dishes out the quality synonymous with the labels success. 'Who's That' comprises of one original, a radio edit and two remixes from fellow Steyoyoke greats Sasch and Soul Button.

The title track opens with a rich atmospheric vibe and elegantly carries BLANCAh's own vocals with dark grace. Backed by a steady beat and swirling synths, the track then steps out of the shadows to flirt with the mischief of the night. 

Sasch draws a more playful element out of the original. With subtle disco licks, a shuffling rhythm and a melodic core, this remix will have you grooving away before you know it. 

The second remix from Soul Button is more subdued and focuses a little more on the tracks deeper components. He draws out a darker side of 'Who's That', with his signature rolling melodies and layered soundscapes.
  
Steyoyoke's second anniversary party is set for March 14th at Ritter Butzke in Berlin and paves the way for BLANCAh's first appearance for the label, which is perfect timing to coincide with the launch of her debut EP 'Who's That'.

Fresh from an appearance on the TWENTY years of Global Underground compilation, Just Her returns with a slew of remixes for the breathy, deep and hypnotic ‘Follow You Down’.

Stunning remixes on this pack, Oliver Schories delivers a sub bass, brass stab laden rework that picks up the pace of the original and makes it deep house stomper. The White Shadow remix pushes the song on even more and turns it into a pulsing, driving, melodic monster.

Yost takes it in a totally different direction and pulls it back to an almost chilled house vibe, clever percussion, beautiful melodies and vocal effects punctuate this version.

Andrea Arcangeli keeps it with the chilled vibe but adding in some legato strings to give the song an ethereal feel. Armonica finishes up the package with a strong techy, proggy, deep rework with some stutter vocal effects throughout.

Based in Berlin but originally from Italy, Soul Button has undoubtedly made a distinctive mark on the Melodic Techno scene, starting his personal project in 2012 along with the launch of his label and brand, Steyoyoke Recordings. As the inventor and trademark owner of the Ethereal Techno subgenre, his artist name, Soul Button, reflects a strong conceptual identity.

Soul Button transformed his label into a real brand, first establishing the two sub-labels Steyoyoke Black and Inner Symphony, and later developing his own clothing brand, SYYK Berlin, as well as his own publishing company, SYYK Publishing. Well known in the electronic music scene as one of the most skilled DJs and producers, for his mental and soulful sets and tracks, Soul Button has affirmed his international exposure.

His career took off with many successful singles like "Swift Minds" and "Wraith", the latter featuring acclaimed American vocalist Terry Grant. Tracks like "Reverie" and "Metamorphosis" were a great anticipation of his first album, released in December 2019, "Phantom Existence", a 13-original track album that marked a significant moment in his career, followed by a remix edition in April 2020.

Recent years have seen continued success with the release of the "Pantheon" EP alongside Monarke, and singles such as "God Save The Rave", "Crescendo", "Merine", "Infinitude", and "Dalliance", capturing the attention of techno enthusiasts worldwide. His latest work includes "Walking Straight Up", a single that highlights his ascent in 2023, together with the collection, "Dual Realms of Sound", which was a testament to Soul Button's evolving sound and his ability to capture the duality of rhythm and melody, further solidifying his place in the techno realm. 2024 sees his second official album "Master Minds", which will be launched in April 2024, with preceding singles "Lumina" and "Tartribe".

Having cemented himself firmly in the scene, Soul Button maintains focus on the continuous growth and development of his labels as well as his own personal career. The upcoming years will surely be busy with new tours and projects on the horizon.
