PREMIERE : Anita May - Zanzibar (Original Mix)[Recovery Collective]

Firmly ensconced at underground dance’s top table, GMJ has matured into a powerful force. Returning to the Meanwhile imprint he founded with spiritual brother, Matter, “Empty to Fill” is an outstanding new offering.

An artist who has risen to prominence in both the live and production arenas, Gavin Griffin finds himself at the centre of an ever-vibrant Melbourne music scene. Home to a host of iconic names and a sound that helped define the progressive house genre in the 2000s, his GMJ moniker has continued to shape the modern progressive sound. With over 400 production credits to his name, a century alongside long-term partner, Matter, GMJ has seen his music adorn the likes of Balance Music, Anjunadeep and Proton Music.

Opening his solo account on Meanwhile with October 2020’s “Mood Medicine”, collaborative EPs with Matter have seen “Lost on Origin”, “The Path / Perfect Storm” and “Eldarin” light up the label, alongside remixes for Simos Tagias, Roger Martinez and Matter himself.

Opening with the title track, “Empty to Fill” is a chunky, subterranean groove-fuelled monster. Bristling with menacing vibe, lighter moments come courtesy of floating synth motifs that glide to the fore in a stripped back breakdown of delicate keys and gloriously delayed sequences. A pulsating white-noise riser heralds a return of the club-friendly groove and gorgeous melodic flow in the latter stages.

Continuing with the trademark rolling groove that watermarks the GMJ sound, “Door of Light” sparkles with arpeggiated backdrop and reverse-reverb vocal breaths. Evolving immaculately, stratified sonic layers flourish as they entwine together in organic fashion. Counterpoint motifs coruscate above pulsing white-noise swells as the aptly named track waxes and wanes in perfect dancefloor cadence, before reaching a rousing crescendo in an immersive sonic tapestry.

The final piece sees the popping percussive vibrancy of “Stage Flight” sit atop a stereo-panned bass groove. Building over its 7-minute duration, syncopated synth riffs lock tightly into the driving framework that reaches its culmination with a chorus of breathy pads and a drop back into the rolling bassline and mirrored synth sequence. The resultant track is a powerful snapshot straight out of the GMJ production playbook.

Chock full of rhythmic force and multi-faceted layers of sound, “Empty to Fill” displays a sparkling 24-carat hallmark of the GMJ sound.

GMJ - Stage Flight

'Raven / Changes' is the new two-original EP by argenitian producers Teleport-X @teleportx and Agustín Ficarra @agustinficarra , which is completed by two remixes by Spanish Integral Bread @integralbread and also Argentinian Andrés Moris @andrees-moris 

The tandem formed by Teleport-X and Agustín Ficarra results in a perfect symbiosis, where each producer contributes his skills to achieve a progressive house sound, full of emotional atmospheres and psychedelic elements.

Andrés Moris's remix offers a less hypnotic version, which uses of several elements of the version in addition to adding the sounds and grooves that characterize this young producer.

Univack's boss Integral Bread provides a remix that is somewhat different from what this veteran Spanish producer has accustomed us to. His version of 'Changes' is closer to pure Progressive House, with less dark elements and a global groove that develops until almost the end of the track.

One year ago Chrom recordings released the fantastic 'Gideon' EP from their label manager Pedro Mercado together with JG Outsider. That EP contained 4 original tracks. The title track 'Gideon' was a big success as we had hoped, but to our pleasant surprise the B-side track 'Eden' turned out to be at least as popular. So we decided to re-release 'Eden' together with a remix for each of the 4 tracks from the original EP. 

For this remix EP they carefully selected 4 artists that they really love.

We are premiering Twilight Music Sculpture. Real name Sean O'Brien, from Toronto in Canada, he is known for creating passionate journeys through melodic, deep & organic beats in his radio shows, during his video streams and on his own label Early Twilight. We got to know him better when he played for us recently at the Amsterdam Dance Event and asked him to remix 'Arcadia'.

@Ninze is constantly releasing new music in various collaborations and 2024 will be no exception. For his upcoming productions, it is already clear that his productions continue to evolve without leaving the typical sound.

"2010" is the first song of the 2-track-EP "Reasons of Simplicity". The song, like the whole EP, proves that depth and simplicity are not mutually exclusive. The play with repetition, distorted deep house and minimal influences and vocals that float above everything else are intended to send the listener back to fond memories of their first festival summer.

Being patient is an art for itself.  Challenging and easy at the same time The song "Patience" completes Ninze’s EP "Reasons for Simplicity". As the title suggests, the song plays with patience and impatience - the driving forces when dancing. Well-filled pads on distorted deep house beats with fuzzy vocals take the listener back into his cosmos.  
A special feature of this piece: Julian accidentally included his bouncing leg. Which; like restless leg syndrome, moves up and down while he works on his songs. If you listen carefully - you'll notice this accent. Sometimes the small things in life or the coincidences that turn simplicity into something special - like in this song.

Based in Berlin but originally from Italy, Soul Button has undoubtedly made a distinctive mark on the Melodic Techno scene, starting his personal project in 2012 along with the launch of his label and brand, Steyoyoke Recordings. As the inventor and trademark owner of the Ethereal Techno subgenre, his artist name, Soul Button, reflects a strong conceptual identity.

Soul Button transformed his label into a real brand, first establishing the two sub-labels Steyoyoke Black and Inner Symphony, and later developing his own clothing brand, SYYK Berlin, as well as his own publishing company, SYYK Publishing. Well known in the electronic music scene as one of the most skilled DJs and producers, for his mental and soulful sets and tracks, Soul Button has affirmed his international exposure.

His career took off with many successful singles like "Swift Minds" and "Wraith", the latter featuring acclaimed American vocalist Terry Grant. Tracks like "Reverie" and "Metamorphosis" were a great anticipation of his first album, released in December 2019, "Phantom Existence", a 13-original track album that marked a significant moment in his career, followed by a remix edition in April 2020.

Recent years have seen continued success with the release of the "Pantheon" EP alongside Monarke, and singles such as "God Save The Rave", "Crescendo", "Merine", "Infinitude", and "Dalliance", capturing the attention of techno enthusiasts worldwide. His latest work includes "Walking Straight Up", a single that highlights his ascent in 2023, together with the collection, "Dual Realms of Sound", which was a testament to Soul Button's evolving sound and his ability to capture the duality of rhythm and melody, further solidifying his place in the techno realm. 2024 sees his second official album "Master Minds", which will be launched in April 2024, with preceding singles "Lumina" and "Tartribe".

Having cemented himself firmly in the scene, Soul Button maintains focus on the continuous growth and development of his labels as well as his own personal career. The upcoming years will surely be busy with new tours and projects on the horizon.
