System 22- Misguided Robots (General Midi Mix) [LR011]

Lulu Rouge's "The Sound Is The Drum" is probably be one of the finest if not *the* finest albums of 2013 with both tracks featuring Fanney Osk on vocals being my favourite, and it's hard to improve upon something you like this much. And yet, adding a little bit of that Elite Force magic (plus the usual tweaking here and there by yours truly) certainly pushes (ha!) the original track in a completely new direction while retaining its original awesomeness.

I was especially happy with how the bass line of the first and the kick drum of the latter perfectly fitted with each other.

Commissioned from Fluke's 10-year anniversary comp "Progressive History XXX"  back in 2002. It was an honour to do a remix for a group I reckon is the most underrated dance act of the turn of the century. 

I remember them providing no less that 60 samples on a DAT which just about filled my sampler and took a good day and night to sample and chop up before any music-making could begin..  Probably why it's such a full (on) mix!

Can't DL this for you as it's not ours to give but I'm sure you can buy it somewhere...  I'd say get yourself the 3xCD boxset for a proper history lesson

The thinking behind this piece was to create a piece of heavy, but joyously uplifting, rolling breaks that would transport people to a special place in space & time.

I imagined heading out to the Deep Playa in the heart of the Nevada desert with a beautifully dialled in sound system, closing my eyes and just dancing my heart out with wild abandon. In many ways this track owes as much to my love of heavy, hypnotic guitar music as it does the pure electronics of the dancefloor as it builds to a raging, ecstatic intensity with layer-upon-layer of synthetic and real-world drones.

In the heart of this global pandemic let's join together and touch the sky.
