Raymond Shihawu (or SoulaRay, as he is professionally known) grew up in Seshego township in the shadow of Polokwane, Limpopo, where he fell in love with rap music while attending Khaiso High during the mid-'90s, He co-founded with Daniel (aka Danio ), Saint Squad the Christian rap group in 2000, in 2007 SoulaRay began a solo career that was stylistically diverse and immensely successful as well.

His first mixtape, irapJesus, was released in 2012. A mixture of urban rock and rap, it's single "The Father Of Lights" garnered more than 2000 replays and more than 900 downloads on www.hulkshare.com/SoulaRay and the remix saw the light in 2013. Using pretty much the same blueprint, and even adding in a little kwaito and dancehall reggae, Shihawu released TheSoulaSystem in 2015. It worked again; the EP provided fans with another vibrant, genre-melding set of new material. Four of its singles are now receive a lot of replays and downloads.

SoulaRay, a native of Seshego, but resident of Polokwane, is a hip hop artist taking the rap scene back with his music which He refers 
to G.O.M.E -(God Over Money Everyday Music).
