LNDFK (aka Linda Feki) presents her ground-breaking debut album, “Kuni” on Brooklyn-based Bastard Jazz Recordings. Undeniably on the rise after her 2019 breakout performance at Primavera Sound, LNDFK has already caught the attention of Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Clash Magazine, Noisey, and Brooklyn Vegan (among many others) while being championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Tom Ravenscroft, and Jamz Supernova & landing spots on tastemaker playlists like Spotify’s “Pollen” and “Fresh Finds.” 

“Kuni” is a spellbinding exploration of dichotomies: Love & Death (Eros & Thanatos), Flower & Fire, Delicacy & Violence, Poetry & Realism, Purification & Destruction. These opposites are reified in the 10-track LPs multifarious and multifaceted sounds, elegantly meandering through a variety of styles and genres, spearheaded by Linda and features the production wizardry of Darrio Bassolino who co-wrote the album.

The Gradients project was created to blend different creative platforms. Our philosophy is that nothing in life is black or white, but a gradient. We explore this concept through various intersections and collaborations between mediums including (not limited to) visual art, design, dance, film, music, architecture, food, computer science, and more.

The most recent Gradients Project that NY-based artist Kathy Lee (aka Yaeji) spearheaded has been the Gradients Mix series--a collection of 30 minute mixes that aurally translate a gradient of 2 colors. She has also been hosting Live Gradients shows in New York where each musical performer is assigned a color to interpret through their set.

"'Hue' was an audio-visual study for me. When I first decided to challenge myself and make multiple tracks that could sit under one theme to be an EP or album, I was stuck with the preconceived idea that it has to hold one consistent sound. That very quickly became limiting for me, so I decided to think of the songs as colors instead, flowing from one to the other like a gradient, to inspire my production. That is why my tracks are each named a color and they all connect to become one, long gradient."

10 yrs have passed since this one first hit stores. Hud Mo and Mike Slott were right in the middle of lively and formative beats scene that linked Glasgow to Dublin to London to L.A. to Tokyo to Vienna to Sydney to ..... the Myspace era.

Straight off the success of his highly acclaimed release "Depth of Madness" (Paxico Records), we had the honors in having LA native,  jazz pianist, singer, songwriter and multiinstrumentalist, Moki Kawaguchi aka Lionmilk on for his SCR debut.  

Lionmilk is Moki Kawaguchi: 24-year-old jazz pianist, singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist.  A native of Hollyweird, he takes after all its decaying glamour and peeling paints, contending with an aesthetic of deterioration. With his 3rd project DEPTHS OF MADNESS, he performs cathexis of his own crumbling mind, arranging sonic hallucinations, eviscerating time and dreaming through nimble keys, gleefully detached from waking life. Its narrative follows a quixotic maestro who wrestles with tangled feelings and bouts of longing. Dredges nightmares from the unknown and reaches toward infinities: the forever, the beyond, the blue. 

In the wake of chaos he also reminds us of all that he's lost in pursuing delirium to its ends. We find a soul caught between hope for recovery and the fear that it might never know a moment's repose. 

With a vastly eclectic musical vernacular he combines elements of oddball tropicalia, bossa jazz, blistering metal doom-scapes and melancholy stoner rock. Take the dive to reemerge in a heightened state of consciousness- this is a work that is euphoric, uncanny, intense and brilliant.

Charles brainchild Make Jazz Trill Again, traces the Journey of American music and its ties to the Black Diaspora. Re-working Haitian Folk songs to Negro Spirituals, from the Blues to Nancy Wilson and Hugh Masekela. Charles creates a space where tradition meets present time, using SP’s, loop pedals, and flute to blur the lines between  social classes, cultures, genders, and theories to create a world where opposing elements can co-exist.
 
With Trill Suite No.1 Melanie Charles, stretches as an arranger and producer exploring  2 pivotal compositions; Aretha Franklins “Daydreaming” and Hoagy Carmichaels standard “Skylark” .The trifecta of Jonathan Michel on Upright Bass, Luke Carlos O’reilly on Rhodes and Organ, and IGNABU on drums weave throughout Charles soundscape of Sp202 ,303 and flute for a “trill” take on these timeless classics. Co-produced and mixed by Daniel Schlett at Strange Weather Recordings  Mastered by Bae Bro.
