Hailing from Brooklyn @undergroundsystem have build a loyal fanbase via their dynamic live shows. Taking their name from a Fela Kuti song their foundations come from Afrobeat but they combine many multiple genres in their music. Fusing among others world, electronic, disco & house they describe themselves as 'culture clash advocates'. Their debut LP 'What Are you' dropped in late 2018 on the always excellent @soulclaprecs. Following this up their latest single 'Just a Place' is packed with brilliant remixes from Gerd Jansen, Sol Power, Greg & Che Wilson, Peter Matson and this superb dubbed out electronic afro mix from Soul Clap & Midnight Magic.

Soul Clap return with a disco infused tribute to New York nightlife ‘Ready To Freak’, featuring the legendary Kathy Brown on vocals. This Billboard charting vocalist was known for her 90’s number one single ‘Turn Me Out’. 

‘Ready To Freak’ is the US based duo’s first excursion on their eponymous Soul Clap Records since their collaboration with Funkadelic in 2014 and features four versions to suit any discerning dancefloor, boombox or Walkman! 

The 'Disco Mix' lives up to its name, edited and arranged by Morgan Wiley (Midnight Magic, Hercules & The Love Affair). It takes the melodies and basslines of the original demo and loads them up with Wiley's keyboard wizardry over live drums. On the 'Disco Dub' Soul Clap's Eli aka Bamboozle and Wiley flip the groove with a Roland RX7 drum machine for that 80's proto-house feel. 

On the B-side, Soul Clap's Charlie aka Lonely C pulls out all the stops for a pumped up piece of floor shaking house music on his 'Club Electronique’, while his 'Dub Electronique' makes things DJ friendly with a bass driven drum work out that that's already had massive reactions during DJ sets.

When the NYC Club Classic “I’m In Love” by Sha-Lor hit the streets in 1988, singer Lori Lava (the ‘Lor’ of Sha-Lor) was only 16 years old. That record was produced by Newcleus/Dream 2 Science mastermind Ben Cenac aka Cozmo D and his connections landed Sha-Lor the opportunity to perform live at Tony Humphries' legendary club night at Zanzibar in New Jersey. It was a hit, but for a variety of reasons the group’s house music story seemed to end…. UNTIL NOW

Thanks to a friendly bridge built between Cozmo D and Soul Clap and his suggestion to continue Sha-Lor! Today in 2020, Sha-Lor is singer/songwriter Lori Lava and daughter Ashanti Maynard who fills the role as ‘Sha’. These two vocalists bring some serious energy to the collaboration’s debut record, “Jussa Come.” The true house heads know, “I’m In Love,” but few know of Sha-Lor’s Caribbean roots.

Soul Clap wanted to capture and mix the flavors to create “Jussa Come”; part house, part soca/dancehall and definitely HOT FIYAAH. Sha-Lor’s chatting vocal style is right up front and center over an infectious, uptempo and anthemic beat. Sha-Lor states “It feels good to be back in a genre that I love, bringing my Caribbean Roots to you. Like my Tune says “Uno Tink say mi dun but mi Jussa come” meaning I’m Not Done Yet ..... I’m Just Getting Started!!”
