As if this news isn't enough, we just hit 100K here on Soundcloud this past Friday literally while we launched our new residency @ the legendary Echoplex! Talk about timing and accomplishments. THANK you to each and every one of you for supporting us and spreading this sound to everyone. We plan to give you something really soon to celebrate 100K supporters worldwide and more. Big ups to the 900+ people who showed up to The Sound of Tomorrow this past Friday. Very inspiring. 

Joe Kay was struggling to make it over to the studio but some how made it with one eye open and threw down an unforgettable set full of primarily forgotten classics (No trap or heavy bass songs for once lol) that will have you reminiscing on life. Here we are with our 180th show. What an interesting number huh? Can't wait until our 200th show. Lately i've been on a mission digging harder than I've ever had. I don't know what it is, something about digging for original samples, educating you on it and then playing the newer edits/remixes/perspectives are so appealing to me. I focused on a lot of rare/forgotten Neptunes samples this time along. I remember hearing some of these when I was about 10-12 years old but they didn't really resonate with me. But now they make complete sense and sound better than ever. I sprinkled some new tunes and other OG samples and just had fun with it.


On the other hand, I had my first guest: Hannah Faith who is my label mate. She really been impressing me lately with her mixes and the way she has been branding herself independently with very minimal help from Soulection. I love when people are self-sustainable and can brand themselves on their own. She just got a show on NTS every 3rd Saturday of the month @ 1pm (GMT). She dropped a 40 minute mix full of selects that we never heard before. Pay attention to her.

What a year it's been! This was definitely our year; we put in so much work the past 3 years to set ourselves up for the future and  we wouldn't be here without you. There were so many great releases, tracks, new artists who emerged that it is literally impossible to cover everyone. I went through all of my playlists from this whole year by each month and compiled 220+ tracks. But I was only able to get through 103 tracks. Don't be mad if you were an artist who  had a lot of play on our radio show this year and didn't make the cut... it has nothing to do with it not being good enough.. it was more about just the flow and vibe of this session. 

This isn't your typical best of session where we go in order by EP,s albums, artists.. it's just a freestyle.. no favoritism.. everyone is winning; SOULECTION STYLE! 

We love ya'll and look forward to another great year ahead of us. Happy 2015, be safe out there and we'll catch you Saturday, January 10th with Show #200!! We're taking this weekend off. God bless.

Welcome to EP-53 of the Nu Disco Your Disco Radio Show. The first show in our second year of existence. We are starting this second year in style with an incredible guest mix by a legend of this modern Disco sound. The one and only Julius Papp (@juliuspappmusic) of San Francisco.

Julius Papp is one whose dedication to music has propelled his career as a producer and DJ in the dance/club music scene. His dance music roots lie in Disco of the 70’s and New Wave of the 80’s. Presently living in San Francisco, he was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, and got tuned into dance music through the city’s flourishing club scene and diverse radio broadcasts. He started collecting vinyl records in the mid 70’s and took to the turntables in 1985, scoring his first major club gig two years later.

As a veteran in the club scene, Julius has refined a style of dance music that has taken him beyond the boundaries of San Francisco to global praise and recognition. Being nominated as “Most Innovative Producer” at the 2004 House Music Awards is a perfect example of that. Putting him in the company of other nominated producers like, Joey Negro, Osunlade, DJ Gregory, DJ Spinna and Ben Watt was an absolute honor for him.

Soulection Radio Show #225 (The People's Choice)

Feels was carefully curated to bring a feel good energy into the new year, exploring various sounds and merging them together to create a storytelling piece. A journey through the hardship we have faced. The realizations. The love shared. The joyous moments. I feel liable to create straight from the heart, and keep it as real and as raw as possible, I want these mixes to reflect the times of now and all the positive attributes our generation has to offer.
