Roy Hargrove's Jazz Funk band RH Factor gave us a track that they were going to dispose off, but we liked the vibe and sentiment so much, we decided to flush it fully out.  Renee Neufville of Zhane (Hey Mr. DJ) plus Roy and a few other beautiful guests came through to make this a bonafide good time.  The breakdown is special because of the reprise where we brought back the original drums and Roy's flugelhorn solo is an ode to Freddie Hubbard.  Funmi Ononaiye is the funky worm at the end.  Universe > Universal!!

For the third offering on Gottwax we have compiled another 4 tracks cut to bright orange wax enlisting the help of long term friends Bonar Bradberry, Appleblim, Ponty Mython and Krywald & Farrer.

​First a producer that needs no introduction​,​ ​Appleblim kicks things off with ‘Phosphene’ - a glistening and pensive opener that drives a rubbery sequence under loose-limbed drum patterns. Next, ​o​ne half of PBR Streetgang, ​Bonar Bradberry​ follows up with ‘MOD’ - a languid, marching groove that perfectly soundtracks the embers of early doors and carries with it a beguiling quality.

On the flip, Ponty Mython follows up records on Dirt Crew, Swedish Brandy and Russia’s Capital Bass with the low-slung and highly danceable ‘Ruddy’s Loop’. Dissected jungle-esque drum breaks and a jazzy double bass line are melded together before Silver Bear and Percolate affiliates Krywald & Farrer blow some warm tropical air into the package with ‘Innacamo’. Jubilant African vocals and a heated, persistent bass line keep progress bustling forwards as Gottwax cap off another rich and varied offering adding another fine addition to their series.

Adaptation Music adds to its South African contingent with a serious deep house track '4 U' from Octopuz with two stellar remixes from UK based duo L.A Cerate. Hypnotic deep, atmospheric, dreamy, thought provoking; the original and remixes cover all bases for those who appreciate deep vibes.

Octopuz, also known as DJ Octopuz started producing music in 1999 and set up his first label B-Loud Records four years later. Since 2013 he's been running Ancestral Recordings which showcases some of the finest local house music talents alongside his own productions and he's also been signed to labels in the U.S and Europe. Not only a producer, hence the name, he holds down a regular DJ residency in his home town of Bloemfontein, South Africa and has played alongside the likes of Black Coffee, Ralf GUM, Vinny Da Vinci, Tortured Soul and many more.

L.A Cerate have been on Adaptation previously with their 'Subconscious EP' and a remix of Demarkus Lewis' 'Had U First' which was the 50th release on the label. Both producers in their own right, with releases on the likes of Large Music and Dirt Crew, they combine and do one remix each of superbly produced late night deepness suitable for different occasions.

Octopuz - 4 U (L.A Cerate Sunset Mix)

SoulFeast Music is a joint Production and label venture initiated by producers Brian Michel Bacchus &  Joaquin 'Joe' Claussell.  SoulFeast is also a Soulful and Cathartic production entity for Dance Music production and presentation that incorporates the skills of these two Iconoclasts with other like minds in the Undergound Dance Music community.  And by Dance Music, we mean any sounds that make you want to Move Your Body,  regardless of genre!
        
      In 1997, Blue Note Records was looking for an A&R man and was able to coax Brian Michel Bacchus into accepting a position that lasted four fruitful years. More importantly as to the formative chemistry behind SoulFeast, he enlisted friend and cohort Joaquin 'Joe' Claussell to remix several classic tracks by Blue Note artists Cassandra Wilson (Run The Vodou Down & You Don't Know What Love Is), Ronny Jordan (London Lowdown), The Wild Magnolias (Battlefield) and Salif Keita (Tolon Willie).  Claussell also enlisted Bacchus to co-produce 2 Tracks with him of Japanese artist Monday Michiru (Chasing After The Sun & Mysteries Of Life) for her 4 Seasons project on Polydor KK. Bacchus' parting gift to Blue Note was the signing and A&Ring of Norah Jones' Come Away With Me, which went on to garner 8 Grammy Awards. On the heels of this runaway success & the crumbling of the Twin Towers, Bacchus finally escaped the major label Ball & Chain and left Blue Note to pursue independent production again. The first person who called was Joaquin 'Joe' Claussell, who suggested they form a separate production co-venture.  And so SoulFeast was born! Mixes by SoulFeast include the Afro-Brazilian jam "Manhattan" by Eliane Elias, "For Fun" & "Universe" by Rh Factor [Nominated For A Grammy] and "One Day (My Love)" by N’Dea Davenport, "African Lady" By Somi, "Life Is Real" and "Down On My Knees" by Ayo and an ongoing series of collaborations with legendary drummer Chico Hamilton ("I’m Still Thirsty", "Magical Maiden") called Alternative Dimensions.  
        
      Besides working as SoulFeast, both Brian Michel Bacchus and Joaquin 'Joe' Claussell each produce music under their own names and entities.  Bacchus  as Brian Bacchus still works as an independent producer for various artists (Gregory Porter, Lizz Wright, Allan Harris, Sarah McKenzie, Richie Havens, Janis Siegel, Sullivan Fortner, Brian Owens, Quiana Lynell, Matthew Whitaker,  to name a few) and Claussell has several imprints (Sacred Rhythm, Spiritual Life Music, and Mental Remedy) that he releases music under.  He is also in constant demand as a producer and remixer as well as a cosmic DJ in the US and overseas(Body & Soul, Sacred Rhythm, Cosmic Arts)and has opened a new venture in Brooklyn, Cosmic Arts.
