Hailing from Venice to the world Olderic has implemented a sound of his own over the past decade. With releases on labels such as Connaisseur Recordings, Compost Records or Siamese the passionate producer raised the bar for up and coming music that is penned by himself. Not only does Enrico, how close friends call him, work solo when it comes to productions but appreciates his 'Stereocalypse' project with Andrea Doria. The duo provided a remix for 'I Don't Know' by Danish trio WhoMadeWho that turned into a worldwide club hit. This year a release on Dixon and Ame run label Innervisions is confirmed and apparently one of the tracks to strike big in summer. Aside from Enrico's latest achievements when speaking about releasing music and DJing, the Italian is also a driving force in Venice's nightlife bringing renowned artists to the town built on lagoon, more precisely to CirQ. As diverse as Olderic's preferences and tasks are when it comes to music, as he is the co-founder of newly found label Multinotes alongside his friends Lehar and Musumeci, it is obvious that they strenghten the artist's eclectic musical output and have the finger on the pulse of electronical music. With his art:cast for Torture the Artist Olderic takes the audience on a two hour journey through his current approach of dark-twisted, synth-driven and percussive enriched music that depicts the artist's preference but moreover his ability of connecting various soundscapes to make them flow smoothly together. Olderic's perception of electronic music bridges the gap between club-oriented sounds and a mental state of being in a state-of-the-art that does not let go of its audience but absorbs it deeper into his world with every minute being played.

Portsmouth is best known for its maritime history and sights but less for its influence on the electronic music scene. Sometimes though certain parts of history have to be re-written, newly written or added as a result of further insights. It's to argue whether the Southern British artist Kris Davis has to be included in the big picture of the aforementioned music scene, what is inevitable though is his unique dealing with harmonies and the way of puzzling tracks together in such a skillful manner that it deserves a place in the books. After Davis had taken a break from the scene for a little less than a whole calendar year, he returned with his track 'Through The Door' on Frankey & Sandrino's label Sum Over Histories in June. The highly acclaimed track had been a DJs' favorite for a few months and gained massive support from melodic-oriented artists till it was finally pushed through a crack of the door to see the light of day. Shortly after Davis published the inofficial b-side of 'Through The Door', namely 'Forever Alone' on Torture the Artist – a guitar-enriched piece of music that gained the attention of scene's renowned artists such as Marcus Worgull. The releases are now backed with an outstanding art:cast – a mix melodically and emotionally so strong, musically so diverse and technically so smoothly mixed that one is touched by the effort the artist put into this musical piece with the very first sound. Davis combines own pieces of music with current favorites, unites moods and feelings – both expressed in the musical yet harmonic diversity of the mix – and adds the right amount of edginess to come along with a sound of his own. Maybe Portsmouth has been known for its martime history but for most people it will now be associated with Kris Davis' musical perception after hearing his art:cast.

Number seventeen on San Francisco’s Manjumasi showcases the stylings of Italian musician and producer Davide Ferrario. Drawing on a background in both composition and live performance, Davide’s two-track offering is richly musical, showcasing his melodic sensibilities as well as a talent for crafting deep grooves. The lead track “Model” kicks off with a powerful kick and a thick, punctuated bassline. From there the track builds an increasingly complex harmony of layers up into a forceful crescendo of rich, detuned-oscillator synth stabs, with a tone that is both dark but optimistic. The track is well-complemented by “Jewel Ice,” which shows Davide’s softer side in a beautiful sonic tapestry of pretty piano lines, supported throughout by ethereal string pads and sparkling synth details.
First up on remix duties is SF producer and Manjumasi alumnus Bengal, who takes the ingredients of Model and re-works them into a softer, more lush groove. Hypnotic, looping melodic layers carry the groove steadily and gently forwards, with Bengal’s unique and sophisticated percussion style seasoning the mix with artistic detail. Rounding out the package, Toronto DJ/producer and co-founder of No. 19 records turns in a deep, dubby late-night take on Jewel Ice. Stripping the track down to its core elements, Nitin hones in on the seductive piano lines, re-situating them at the very center of a mysterious and haunting afterhours groove.
