Öona Dahl delivers her debut EP on Watergate, continuing her fruitful partnership with Dance Spirit along the way.

Last year’s memorable WhoMadeWho compilation saw Öona Dahl drop her first musical contribution on Watergate, collaborating with Dance Spirit for ‘Break The Stillness’, one of the highlights of the mix. The New York producer, DJ and sound designer, has cultivated a curious and evocative sound going back almost a decade, releasing quality cuts on Anjunadeep, Hallucienda (home to her 2017 album ‘Hollograma’) and All Day I Dream, where she has become a regular at Lee Burridge’s iconic party series.

‘Godtripper’ is a transcendental trip through psychedelic house tones, elevated by Dahl’s own breathy vocal and subtle swells of acid and a smooth melody line. Patrice Bäumel adds a delicious re-work built around a superb bass melody that builds to a crescendo, as layer-upon-layer reveals itself throughout. Dahl links with Dance Spirit for ‘Manic Space’, led by a delicate layer of tribal drums and a meandering melody line, crafted for sundown moments. ‘Universe Within You’ is one for the after hours, wrapped in a minimal shell it unfurls gradually into a glowing late morning house gem, resplendent in golden synths and groovy drums.

The original take of Gryllidae by Berlin-based Blindsmyth gets the remix treatment from Pampa mainstay and master of (synth) melodies Dave DK, who again creates pure and flawless nostalgic and melodramatic love vibes with his approach. The artist, who's appeared as the go-to remixer over the past months with works for Ebrahimi, SØNIN or The Cheapers, returns with another Dave DK retouched version and adds his distinctive note to Gryllidae. Turning the track to a preceding creaky version filled or enriched with various characteristic yet non-repetitive sounds, Dave DK precisely knows what knobs to push to address several emotional levels and make Gryllidae a totally different experience, a Dave DK experience.

Blindsmyth's Gryllidae Remixes will be released on Connaisseur Recordings on October 9th, 2020.

Following the success of his recent Kompakt single "Somewhere," John Tejada returns to his own Palette Recordings imprint with "Anaphora." After a series of collaborative projects with fellow artists, Tejada distinguishes "Anaphora" as his first solo release on Palette since 2009 and presents a double headliner of his trademark musicality and driving rhythms, delivering a set of two eruptive grooves with a focus that has earned Tejada the respect of both listeners and peers alike.
"Anaphora" continues where John's 2006 smash "The End Of It All" left off, showcasing Tejada's trademark use of hopeful melodies and emotive sequences. It highlights his undeniable quality of crafting arrangements that rise above monotony.
Continuing where Tejada's "Mono On Mono" and "Eurotunnel" left off, "Bode's law" explores a darker, more driving side of the two songs. Furious analog synths and drums orbit each other in syncopation to create an engaging rhythm that is hypnotic and inspiring.
