Once in a while an artist will come along that carves out a sonic aesthetic so distinctive it takes just a few bars of a record to know it’s one of theirs. Miguel Migs is undoubtedly one of these artists, with the Californian producer’s catalogue of deeply soulful house exemplifying the very best of his silken, glossy sound. A natural fit for the Soulfuric Deep imprint, he now releases ‘Back Tonight’, featuring regular collaborator Martin Luther on vocal duties. Miguel’s downtempo original is accompanied by remixes from London duo Saison, who go for a clubbier vibe, and disco maestro Aeroplane, who lends his signature funk-flavoured grooves to the mix for a more retro feel.

As the voice behind some of dance music’s biggest anthems, CeCe Peniston needs little introduction. Alongside arguably her biggest hit ‘Finally’, her vocal house classic ‘I’m Feelin’ U’, produced by Ron Carroll for Soulfuric Recordings in 2007, swept across dancefloors from Ibiza to Miami when it was released and remains a dancefloor essential to this day. Now Soulfuric Recordings revives the record for 2021 with an exquisite remix package. Opening with the silken groove of T.Markakis’ remix, Italian producer Qubiko then follows with his trademark driving house sound. Originally released in 2007 on West London’s Slip ‘N’ Slide, Frank Degree’s Latin-house monster ‘O Samba E’ was the cross between Bob Sinclar’s ‘Love Generation’ and Junior Jack’s ‘E Samba’ the world needed that long hot summer. Now Soulfuric Trax revisits the club classic with a new remix package. Opening with Frank Degrees’ Re-Work, this release also features a remix and dub from Melé, picked up from a vinyl white label release. Melé creates a uniquely layered effect while retaining the Latin flare of the original, echoing his DJing technique using three or four decks and refreshing ‘O Samba E’ for 2021 dancefloors.

Joining the ranks of quintessential Soulfuric Trax songs, 'Larry's Jam' is the first new release from the Soulfuric family in over five years. A long-time collaborator with Soulfuric, and a member of Cleptomaniacs alongside the label's founder Brian Tappert, John Julius Knight first released 'Larry's Jam' on his own Blacklist label in 2011. But considering its instantly recognisable disco reference, sunshine attitude, saturated string arrangements and Knight's history with the imprints, a release on Soulfuric was a no-brainer. A fresh new Cleptomaniacs mix completes the package, making this a very welcome return from Soulfuric.

Angelo Ferreri began producing tracks in the early noughties and has since formed two record labels and produced over 100 tracks. ‘Want To Say EP’ is his first release for the Miami-based Soulfuric family, a name that stands as one of the most renowned labels in house music. The three-track EP remains true to the record label’s soulful roots, moving through groove-laden jazz, disco and 90s influences, demonstrating the producer’s ability to create versatility with rounded feel-good vibes. The title track collides the worlds of 90s house with a real jazz influence, offering funky piano riffs behind a pumping beat. ‘I’m Talking To You’ has an up-tempo classic disco backdrop with a kicking bass and soul backing vocals. Finally, ‘The Real Ghetto’ (Extended Mix) takes a southern turn with hollering vocals and electric guitar solos. A truly sun-soaked Soulfuric Trax debut from the Sicilian-born producer.

UK-based duo Full Intention, aka Michael Gray and Jon Pearn, make their debut on Soulfuric Trax with their infectious ‘Simply Living’ single. It features a booming bassline with full strings arrangement under spoken words by soul poet Divine Essence. The production pair are well known for their hard work over the past two decades, with their extensive remixing credentials and collaborations with the likes of Ultra Naté, Todd Terry, Jamiroquai and many more. Staying true to their distinguished stomping house sound, this track is certain to make some serious waves across dancefloors this summer.

Full Intention 'Simply Living'

Surely one of the most defining house records ever made and an out-and-out classic, Soulsearcher’s ‘Can’t Get Enough!’ was first released on Soulfuric Deep, then licensed to Defected Records where it reached #8 in the UK charts. Returning to Soulfuric Deep with a package of five quality remixes, it’s clear that ‘Can’t Get Enough!’ is still resonating on dancefloors 20 years later. Flourishing duo Illyus & Barrientos present two remixes, the Last Boogie Mix introducing a piano riff and Club Refix going deep with a tougher club sensibility. Dr Packer maintains all the original’s most iconic elements, the euphoric vocals and timeless groove given a fresh-sounding elasticity. Finally, Angelo Ferreri presents two mixes, with the Vocal Remix already being a favourite with DJ’s long before its release. The Vocal Remix is an undoubtedly modern take on the classic, giving it more of a peak-time feel with bouncing production and a rolling groove. Angelo’s Sweety Remix loops alternative vocal moments with looser percussion for a more laidback approach. It’s not easy to do justice to an ultimate soulful, vocal house banger but these three remixers have achieved greatness, taking this beautiful record in some welcome new directions.

Shawn Christopher has been making house hits since the late 80s, including providing the vocals for Lil Louis’ #1 ‘French Kiss’ and singing for Chaka Khan. Her experience shines through on ‘You Can Make It’, produced by house music legend Ron Carroll, an original classic on Soulfuric. Now Italian duo Alaia & Gallo take on remixing duties, breathing fresh life into Christopher’s stunning vocal track. The pair have previously had a string of tracks across Defected, and this two-track release is no exception to their party-starting, uplifting production style. Their remix maintains the soulful sound of Christopher’s vocal, whilst weaving in a thundering bassline. In contrast, their Preacher Dub strips back the Christopher’s vocals, as Ron Carroll takes control with his gospel preaching lifting the spirit of the track, as Alaia & Gallo’s remixing makes the track deeper and more club-inclined.

Grammy-nominated Melba Moore’s ‘My Heart Belongs To You’ is an undisputed classic from the Soulfuric back-catalogue. Originally produced by Ron Carroll, who introduced Moore’s disco-diva range to the world of house, this driving peak-time vocal track came with a guarantee to get the room moving, and inspired joyous remixes from Jon Cutler, WAWA and DJ Prom. Now, man of the moment Ferreck Dawn steps up for remixing duties, lending his signature atmospheric rolling house sound to the classic track. Much like Ron’s original, Ferreck’s remix is still an utter celebration of Moore’s soulful top-line, with a deep and driving bassline that refreshes it for 2019 dancefloors.
