My dearest friends. I might take things a bit slower these days but there is no chance I’m leaving you into the remaining summer weeks of this turbulent season without a new edition of these beloved IMAGINARY RAVE TAPES. Well, and here we are. Edition No. 17 is delivering almost two hours of trippy dancefloor sweetness and some of my recent favourites from that musical territory.

Right next to some classics and forgotten 90s gems (Jam & Spoon!) I also got some current favourites on board by the likes of Running Hot, Lauer, Boys' Shorts and Disclosure. Heres part two of what obviously have become and may be a continous mix series. You know the drill - Only swedish productions and vocals. New wave, rock, Italo and so on.

Following the sung swedish hero «Foppa» tribute it’s now time to send another to one of the unsung ones. Christer Petterson was a swedish crimimal and drunk addict who fell into the spotlight being arrested and later convicted for the shocking murder of the swedish prime minister, Olof Palme in 1986.

Just a few months later, however, Pettersson was freed on appeal. The court cited a lack of evidence, including the missing murder weapon, and raised questions over the reliability of Lisbet Palme's identification. Pettersson was awarded about $50,000 in compensation.

Although Pettersson appears to have quickly spent the money on alcohol and drugs.

You can expect a plethora of dreamy arp melodies, emotive chords, ambient textures, abstract sounds & down tempo grooves. I’m just back from a trip to Amsterdam actually & I was in a super cool, chill, crystal, mushroom type shop with a smoking area looking over the water. I definitely channeled that trippy spirit into this mix, I hope you feel it & enjoy"

Gina started making a name for herself as a DJ in 2009, kicking off as a SpeedQueen Resident in Leeds and quickly growing to international debuts around the world, from NYC, Berlin, and Ibiza all the way to Paris, Lyon, Croatia, and Helsinki. She has supported some of the most well-respected artists in the industry: Erol Alkan, Nightmares on Wax, Denis Sulta, Prosumer & Eats Everything to name a few. More recently, she is a Resident DJ at HomoElectric & Manchesters biggest queer festival, HomoBloc, plus a firm favourite at the The Warehouse Project. 

Every element of her productions are deliberate, an ode to all the influences that have shaped and continue to shape her. Gina has racked up releases on well respected labels over the years, Classic Music Company, System Records, Defected & Edible Records to name a few. 

When you walk into her events, you’ll be captivated by the energy, music, and soul that is woven in between every percussive element, raw rhythm, and unapologetic groove. You’ll lose yourself to a marriage of house, disco, techno, acid and everything in between.

Kicking 2018 off in style and joining us on our latest celestial expedition, it’s our pleasure to welcome one of Japan’s finest, Chida.

A man who needs little introduction, Chida has been a pioneer of Tokyo’s underground scene since the early 90s and its safe to say he’s one of the most well respected individuals on the planet. His fascinating musical timbres have been carefully crafted for the likes of ESP, Correspondant and Not An Animal, a lot to be credited for and we haven’t even got on to his Mascaras project or label Ene Records. A talented individual. 

As someone who’s known for his marathon DJ sets that reach up to 12 hours and beyond, blasting his audiences light-years away, we thought it would be fitting to have a mix that is no different. A slugging 3 hour glide through a multitude of space waves, reaching that higher state of consciousness. Exuberant tribal twists, cosmological synth waves, zestful acid fluctuations and more await to caress your ear canals.

Dennis Kane is a renowned DJ, Producer, visual artist and writer, he has run the Ghost Town and Disques Sinthomme imprints, he partners with Darshan Jesrani in the group SIREN, and continues to work on new material and productions for his LESDK label. His most recent remix for Ilija Rudman’s “Sparks” is available now, upcoming is a remix for Rheinzand’s “14 Again”, LESDK’s second release will drop in December. Kane has been isolating in NYC’s Lower East Side with his son Roan Mingus. He likes to bike around the city late at night.
