Back in February of this year Krystal Klear continued his ‘Labour Of Love’ with a Valentine's Day session in the Subbie basement. Keeping with the general vibe of good people playing good records in fun spaces, they welcomed Paul Nickerson & Francis Englehardt aka Slow To Speak aka the two who run NYC’s infamous Dope Jams record store to the Subbie for the first time.

To celebrate the 7th anniversary of OTR, I’m beyond excited to introduce one of my biggest influences and a true legend in the world of house music — the one and only Todd Terry. His groundbreaking sound has shaped the very fabric of dance music, and his influence spans across decades and continents. From his early underground hits to his massive crossover success, Todd Terry has left an indelible mark on the house music scene.

Born in Brooklyn, Todd was inspired by European dance music and quickly gained recognition with iconic tracks like “A Day In The Life,” “Weekend,” and “Can You Party.” By the late 80s, his innovative sound had taken over Europe and eventually returned to dominate the U.S. charts. His collaborations with legendary vocalists and his unforgettable remixes for artists like Everything But The Girl, SNAP, and Jamiroquai have solidified his place in music history.

DJ Atlance, born Théo Chenet, is a rising force in the French electronic music scene. Hailing from Lyon, he has crafted his own sound blending house and disco with distinctive vocals and driving grooves. Inspired by artists such as Folamour, Tilman, or Kerri Chandler, Theo began DJing in 2019, performing at various parties across France. His reputation grew as he graced the decks at well-known venues like Ninkasi Gerland, Le Petit Salon, Le Mazette, Sacré Paris, or Bellona Club.

In 2020, he made his production debut with Fantasy EP on Kombava, collaborating with Crowd Control. This release solidified his presence in the house scene, quickly followed by singles on compilations for respected labels such as Happiness Therapy, Apparel Music, or GLB DOM.

In 2022, his EP After The Storm, released on Lobster Theremin's Running Out of Steam imprint, further showcased his talent. This EP fused funky riffs, provocative beats, and UKG influences, creating a groovy and irresistible dancefloor atmosphere. With each release, DJ Atlance has continued to push the boundaries of house music, embracing elements of Balearic, soul, and jazz to craft his signature sound.

Twenty-twenty four has proven to be a significant year for him, with standout releases on Folamour's esteemed House of Love and UK's label Dansu Discs. His ability to create sun-soaked house cuts, filled with infectious energy and intricate grooves, has cemented him as one of the most exciting talents in the scene.

His most recent release features on Happiness Therapy's Happy House Vol. 8 compilation, alongside artists like Berzingue, Aerial Boy, or Guchon.

Freeride Millenium label head Jorkes sits right at the heart of the European scene. Their DJ sets and productions are famously emotionally charged and draw from house and disco across ages. They come on labels like AUS, Permanent Vacation, and Live At Robert Johnson and alongside Jorkes's work as a vocal LGBTQIA+ activist who always centers marginalized people in what they do alongside partner Daniel Rajcsanyi, who always provides original artwork for the releases.
This new EP is a homage to the bathhouse cruising lifestyle and is themed under Jorkes's lover’s ‘Paris Böhm’ alias, as he is a masseur at Apollo gay city sauna in the heart of Vienna, which is where Freeride Millennium hosted sauna parties.
'+4367762558223' kicks off with thumping house drums and a grinding bassline before tender, molten synth sounds swirl about the mix to bring intimacy and romance. Melancholic leads extend the lushness further amongst muffled vocal musings. The loved-up 'Pool' is awash with exuberant old-school piano chords and dusty Chicago drums that bring the good times. 'Apollo City Sauna' shows a vulnerable side to Jorkes's sound, with introverted synth work and rubbery basslines providing deep thought and late-night dancing. Closer 'In My Arms' is a five-minute synth odyssey full of self-reflection and tender keys that soothe the soul.
