Daddy Squad is the electrifying solo project of Andrew Armstrong, previously one-half of the synth-pop duo Monarchy. With this new venture, Armstrong explores a dynamic fusion of Italo disco, rave, breaks, house, and classic disco, crafting a unique sound that bridges underground club culture with retro-futuristic nostalgia.

Since launching Daddy Squad, Armstrong has collaborated with an impressive roster of artists, including burlesque icon Dita Von Teese, Italo disco duo Hard Ton, synth-pop pioneers Zoot Woman, and house legend S'Express. His debut single, My Magic Number, featuring Dita Von Teese, dropped in September 2021, instantly setting the tone for his vibrant, groove-heavy aesthetic.

Building on this momentum, Daddy Squad released his debut album, All Day All Night Automatic, on May 5, 2023. The album showcases Armstrong's knack for blending pulsating club beats with playful, high-energy melodies, solidifying his place in the electronic music scene. His previous work with industry giants like Charli XCX, SIA, and Blondie further highlights his versatility and influence in the realm of dance music.

With an infectious mix of past and future sounds, Daddy Squad continues to push boundaries, making his mark as one of the most exciting names in modern disco and rave culture.

Daddy Squad - SOULMEEX DECKS 132

Kraak & Smaak (Dutch: [ˌkraːk ɛn ˈsmaːk]) is a musical production trio from the town of Leiden, Netherlands, consisting of Oscar de Jong, Mark Kneppers and Wim Plug. The three began recording in 2003. Their first album, titled Boogie Angst, was released in the UK 2006, and they began performing at music festivals and at clubs in the US and UK. Their songs were played on the radio and were used in television shows. Their second album, released in 2008, was titled Plastic People. They won an EBBA. Their third album, Electric Hustle, was released in 2011.

I remember a whole bunch of early Kraak & Smaak 12"s, Squeeze Me with Ben Westbeech, Funk Ass Rotator and then the iconic Henrik Schwarz remix of No Sun In The Sky that would also massively stick it's head out on the K7 Henrik Schwarz Live! compilation album. A really cool moment in time. 

Later Wim Plug invited LYMA and myself to release two 12" on their label Boogie Angst , namely Games Change and No Time and the collaboration helped solidifying LYMA and my relationship and was a great experience altogether.

Happy to welcome these legendary artists to the series.

[SPA396] MARTIN BRODIN Feat. KATHY DIAMOND - Love's Got Me High (Radio Instrumental)

SOULMEEX record label returns this summer with a heatwave of nostalgia-infused grooves, welcoming French producer Harrington for his debut release on the label. Known for his raw, emotive take on electronica, Harrington blends italo, dream house, and vintage synth textures with a distinct nod to the golden era of Chicago and New York club culture. The result: two original cuts that pulse with timeless energy.

On the A side, Dancin’ Better channels a bittersweet euphoria, driven by retro drum machines, silky basslines, and melancholic melodies that feel both familiar and fresh. The remix comes courtesy of Prom Night, one of Copenhagen’s most vital dancefloor architects. His version reimagines the track turning it into a peak-time heater for dreamy dancefloors.

Flip to the B side for System Nation, a darker, more propulsive journey through late-night zones, with Harrington crafting a groove that’s both hypnotic and emotionally charged. Stepping up on remix duty is Berlin’s own Maltitz. His italo remix injects System Nation with shimmering synths nodding to the genre’s roots while pushing the vibe forward.

Carrot Green is the alias of Brazilian DJ and producer Carlos de Macedo Costa Gualda, based in Rio de Janeiro. A 2013 Red Bull Music Academy alumnus who's performed at renowned festivals and clubs like Dekmantel, Kater Blau, and Mareh Festival. Known for fusing traditional Brazilian rhythms with contemporary electronic sounds, his music moves between techno, house, disco, and trance-infused beats. Thumping slow tunes layered with tropical textures and hypnotic synths available on migthy labels like Permanent Vacation, Razor-N-Tape or DSRPTV most recently.

German dj-producer Mathias Modica aka Kapote is no new name for those into electronic music for a while. He used to dj and produce by the name of Munk and co-running Gomma label back in the days.

It's one thing to make a name by yourself in the scene, it's another story to survive into a very competitive environment, always hungry for new flesh to eat, and reinvent yourself !

Mathias funded Toy Tonics in 2012 and slowly to slowly managed to make it a staple in the house music scene (while Gomma was more of an indie dance, pop, disco & electroclash kind of mixture) with releasing tirelessly new fresh stuffs. Hard work paid off as Toy Tonics became a brand in itself, making parties absolutely everywhere in Europe and beyond with numerous residents such as Kapote himself, Sam Ruffillo, Barbara Boeing, Stump Valley etc...

As producer, Kapote just released his new album "Para Mytho Disco" early april and if you read this on time, he's on duties tonight at Infamous Rex Club in Paris with Gee Lane & Fimiani for another TT party!
